Beatrix Potter first told The Tale of Peter Rabbit in a letter to a little boy who was quite ill in 1893. Her story was actually published in a book in 1902 by Frederick Warne and Co. and given the same name.

In the tale, Peter Rabbit does not follow his Mother's orders and enters the garden of Mr. McGregor. Peter Rabbit eats a lot of vegetables in the garden before Mr. McGregor spots him and chases him out of the garden. Peter loses his blue jacket and Mr. McGregor uses the jacket on his scarecrow.

And so the World of Peter Rabbit begins....
