Ranked #8,582 in Music, #228,708 overall | Donates to Soldiers Angels

Frampton Comes Alive

The song "Do You Feel Like We Do" had become a popular part of Peter Frampton's live show before it was released as a single.

During the song, Frampton would play extended guitar solos, including one of his most famous solos which involves using an effects pedal, a tube strapped to the microphone and his own mouth to make his guitar sound as if it was talking.

"Do You Feel Like We Do" is one of the longest songs to ever reach the top 10 of the US pop charts, even though the version that charted was almost half as long as the album version.

"Do You Feel Like We Do" was only included on the album Frampton Comes Alive after a decision was made to made it a double length album.

Frampton Comes Alive was the biggest selling live album in history until 1998, and remains one of the biggest selling live and biggest selling double length albums in the world.

Frampton's Camel

"Do You Feel Like We Do" originally appeared in 1973 on Frampton's second solo album, Frampton's Camel.

The song was not released as a single, but did become a highlight of Frampton's live show usually containing instrument solo's, most famously of which was his use of guitar effects pedal know as the voice box.

With the voice box, Frampton was able to make it sound as if his guitar was speaking.

Frampton Comes Alive!

(25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)

Released in 1976 after four albums that had lacked any substantial commercial success, Frampton's double live album, Frampton Comes Alive, shot to the tops of the charts and became the biggest selling live album, a title it held until Garth Brooks' Double Live was released in 1998.

The song "Do You Feel Like We Do" was added to the album as part of the decision to expand it to a double length (2 LPs) size, and a version of the song that had been shorten from just over 14 minutes long to a little over 7 minutes long was released as a single.

The single version of "Do You Feel Like We Do" became one of the longest songs to chart in the top ten of the US pop charts. Frampton Comes Alive! - Review - allmusic
by Bruce Eder

At the time of its release, Frampton Comes Alive! was an anomaly, a multi-million-selling (mid-priced) double LP by an artist who had previously never burned up the charts with his long-players in any spectacular way.

The biggest-selling live album of all time, it made Peter Frampton a household word and generated a monster hit single in "Show Me the Way." And the reason why is easy to hear: the Herd/Humble Pie graduate packed one hell of a punch on-stage -- where he was obviously the most comfortable -- and, in fact, the live versions of "Show Me the Way," "Do You Feel Like I Do," "Something's Happening," "Shine On," and other album rock staples are much more inspired, confident, and hard-hitting than the studio versions...

Peter Frampton - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Peter Kenneth Frampton (born April 22, 1950) is a British/American musician, singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He was previously associated with the bands Humble Pie and The Herd, among others. In 1982 Frampton tried unsuccessfully to split his ties with A&M Records; however, he re-signed with the label in 2006 and released his Grammy Award-winning Fingerprints. He is considered by the Cincinnati Enquirer as the "The Face of 1968".

Frampton's international breakthrough album was his live release, Frampton Comes Alive!. The album sold over 6 million copies in the United States alone, and since then he has released several major albums. He has worked with David Bowie and both Matt Cameron and Mike McCready from Pearl Jam, among others. In later years Frampton is remembered for such hits as "Baby, I Love Your Way", "I'm in You" "Show Me the Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do."

Pete lives down the pike from me now and is very involved with the children's music program in the 'natti. What's even cooler is that he has his guitars worked on in a specialty shop that is about three miles from my house. The shop is ancient and has a recording studio upstairs where Pete will lay down a few tracks from time to time.

I loved this album. It, along with Kiss Alive brought polish and credibility to live albums, but I really don't think the magic has been recreated......well, Blue Oyster Cult albums are always magical ;)

Honestly, I hate it. It might be because when it was released as a single, the rock stations played the grooves out of it. I got so tired of listening to it, I would hit the buttons on the radio.
