This year I started telling people that I am a "Web Property Developer" instead of simply a "Web Developer." Hearing the term Web Property Developer is more likely to raise questions, whereas when I say Web Developer, people think I'm a coder. I do code. I'm not the greatest with it, but it's far from the only thing I do.

If someone said they were a Real Estate Developer, everyone would immediately understand. Nobody would think of them as just a carpenter, or just a plumber, though the developer may indeed be very skilled at those professions. I think the same is true with the web. Many coders have become good Web Property Developers. But, so have many search engine marketers and web designers (both of which I would argue are as necessary skills as coding).
