The Secrets of Living with Dogs and Cats

Tidbits, advice and product reviews to help you enjoy your life with your dogs and cats

Fur on My Furniture - Hair on My Clothes

or The Truth About Life with Pets

I admit it, there are some drawbacks to living with animals. Like the hair on and in everything. I vacuum nearly every day.

Then there is the danger of a cat running across your bed in the middle of the night, in pursuit of a mysterious object. Or jumping on your head just as you are falling asleep.

Going away for a weekend or a longer trip is not as easy as just packing your bags and hopping on a plane. And not going for a walk just because it is rainy or 30 below is not considered a valid excuse.

But the truth is, I can't imagine living without at least furry companion. I have done it of course, like the two years that I lived in a dorm at college.

There were many years that I lived without dogs, but at least I had a cat or two. I wouldn't even consider renting an apartment that did not allow pets.

For all the extra work and expense, I wouldn't give up the experience, joy, pleasure and entertainment of living with cats and dogs.

Holiday Gifts for Pets

Give a Pet Gift - Not a Pet

With the holidays approaching and people's thoughts turned to the perfect gift for everyone on their list, I wanted to put out this plea.

Please DON'T choose a puppy or a kitten as "that perfect gift" for anyone!

Dogs and cats should never be given to someone lightly, even if you know they really want one. For the logic behind this statement, read Pets as Gifts - NOT!.

Instead, I suggest giving something the prospective new pet owner will need, such as basic pet supplies.
For ideas see "Basic Pet Supplies"

To make the gift more festive, try putting the items in a paw-print Christmas stocking for dogs, or one designed for kitties
