The fashion supermodel from the Czech Republic whose star has been rising over the past few years!
Petra Nemcova became a model at 16, was featured on the cover of the 2003 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and has been a Victoria's Secret model. In June 2004, she was a judge for the Miss Universe competition in Quito, Ecuador. Then in December 2004, while doing a photo shoot in Thailand with her fiancé, Simon Atlee, she was seriously injured when a tsunami hit. Her fiancé drowned and she suffered a broken pelvis along with serious internal injuries.
She wrote Love Always, Petra which was published in December 2005--it details her early life under Communist rule in Czechoslovakia, her entrance into the field of fashion and modeling, and her breakthrough into Sports Illustrated, which was her springboard to becoming a supermodel.
In 2005, she received a "Survivor Award" from Glamour magazine in honor of her picking up her life following her tsunami ordeal. Then, in 2006 she appeared in Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and was linked romantically to British singer James Blunt. She appeared in the 2007 British FHM calendar as Miss May, is now the host of TLC's A Model Life, and is active in her charity, the Happy Hearts Fund. She's also been seen on the arm of man HOT men! Why did I write this lens? I have been an admirer of Petra Nemcova for several years; I bid on and won her celebrity auction--the 2006 Stuart Weitzman Bid for a Cure; and I've written another lens, Made in Czech Republic. I'm blown away by the fact that swatches of her bikini from photo shoots are being sold on eBay!

I only bid on two different models designer shoes, Daniela Pestova and Petra Nemcova.September was Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Through its annual celebrity shoe auction, Stuart Weitzman launched its commitment to bringing the signs and symptoms of another women's cancer to the forefront. Stuart A. Weitzman (born in 1942; wife, Jane Weitzman) is the designer of the international, high-end shoe company, Stuart Weitzman.
Stuart Weitzman's trademark use of unique materials (e.g., cork, vinyl, lucite, wallpaper, and 24-karat gold), and his attention to detail, garnered him and his company a global following. His shoes are sold in 45 countries.
Weitzman's father, Seymour Weitzman, started a shoe factory in Haverhill, Massachusetts, in the late 1950s, "Seymour Shoes" (also sold under the label: "Mr. Seymour"). Weitzman began designing shoes for his father's business in the early 1960s, when he was in his 20s.
Weitzman graduated George W. Hewlett High School in 1958, and the Wharton School of Business in 1963. When Seymour Weitzman died in 1965, Stuart took over the business with his older brother, Warren Weitzman. They sold the business to a company in Spain in 1972, but Stuart continued to design shoes for the company. In 1994, he bought back the business, but continues to manufacture his shoe designs in Spain.
Since 2002, Weitzman has provided one-of-a-kind, "million dollar" shoes to an Oscar nominee to wear at the Oscars. For the 2007 Oscar ceremony, shoes were designed for and provided to Diablo Cody, who subsequently declined to wear them, stating that she was not aware of nor interested in the publicity attendent with wearing the shoes.
