Like most people who voted, I'd say it's a hard choice, but I'd go with cats. They are smaller, all the better for curling up with at night, and they don't make you go outside when it's ten degrees below zero (NY mountains get COLD at night!) I miss my babies!

I love both cats and dogs, but for anyone who travels without their pet, it's much easier to leave a cat at home for a few days than to kennel a dog.

- Oh, now I see where my two cats have been going a few days each week - to piano lessons. Those two kitties look just like our two felines - the piano players are so cute. I love dogs as well as cats, but cats seem to have a bit more personality ...

- Can't really say that I can choose. I lean to more the dog side of things, but I've had a couple of gallery cats now for about a decade and can't imagine being there without a cuddly cat to share my space.

- To paraphrase Will Rogers, I don't think I've every met a dog I didn't like. When you look into a dog's eyes, you know there's a soul in there. I used to think of cats as empty little fur suits. But I played a part in civilizing a then-feral cat about two years ago...and she turned out to be a real charmer. Thumbs up for waggily lens!
