"My 5yo Jack Russell barks up a storm whenever I leave the apartment. He becomes manic, yaps and sometimes chews things. Usually, after just going to the laundry room I come back to him barking and panting from being frantic and upset. Otherwise, he rarely ever barks.
I tried this unit because I wanted to try the cheapest, safest, way first before trying anything else.
On the first try upon leaving the apartment, when he would usually bark like crazy after I left...he barked ONCE. The collar went off, and I heard nothing else. I went to the store and came back. NO barking, and he was sitting on the couch like a little angel. Apparently it snaps him out of his crazed state and allows him to calm down.
I have read the negative reviews and perhaps this unit won't work for dogs who bark ALL the time, but if your dog is a situational barker like mine it could just change your life too. At least try this unit first before spending 3 times the money."

"Two weeks ago my wife informed me that we were taking in a young, abandoned beagle long enough to find it a good home. Apparently this "adorable little puppy" was born with one normal-sized ear and a, shall we say, less than normal ear about 1/3 the size. My wife was also kind enough to inform me that my objections were well thought out, had many interesting points, respectfully noted and ignored. To make a long story short, many of my subsequent opinions on the ambiguous residency of the beagle met a similar fate and I am now the proud and happy owner of "Radar, The Wonder Beagle."
Only one small problem with Radar's permanent visit, he's a howler. I'm not talking about a little "shucks guys, I sure do miss you." Oh no. This howl is only something that nature and the devil must have put together after a late night of drinking. Seriously, painful.
We bought this product this morning from our local PETCO and I have to say it might have saved my marriage. This is the evening of Day 1 and not a peep out of Radar after some initial training. We read that barking due to separation anxiety may only make the situation worse so we decided to do a combination of normal bark training and anxiety training.
Basically, we put the collar on, put Radar in his crate and pretended to leave. Immediately, the barking started followed by the obvious squeal from his response to the "static correction." After a couple of minutes and several heart-wrenching attempts on his part, we went in and let him out of the cage. He was nuts, but he usually is. We ignored him until he calmed down then greeted him soft and slow. We took him outside, let him recycle and then brought him back in for Round 2. We repeated the process but allowed for more time during the separation. Same heart-wrenching results, but he caught on faster. We did this complete process two more times with my wife and me taking turns with putting the collar on taking him to his cage. The idea is that neither of us wanted to be the only person he associated with this process. By the fourth time, he didn't make a whimper. And on the fifth round we actually left and did some shopping. Our return was met with silence and a surprisingly calm beagle.
It took no more than 30 minutes to complete this training process, but it was worth it. Obviously, there will be some continued training, but WOW! This is the best thing I've come across in a long time. I recommend this product as a possible solution to any accidental owner that is faced with a dog-loving spouse, a bark-loving dog, and limited influence on either."
