Cool Things You Can Do with Pet ID Tags

Pet ID tags are cheap and easy to get--and Very Very useful! They come in a variety of shapes and colors, and you can have them engraved with any message you want. Here's one great source of cheap pet tags. How you use them is completely up to you and the limits of your imagination!

A quick list of ideas for using pet tags

I bet you can come up with a bunch of your own!

  • Luggage tags. Why pay $12 for a crappy leatherette luggage tag? Get an metal one with your information engraved on it for much less.
  • Tool tags. Tag your tools with an engraved metal name tag so there's no question of who they belong to.
  • Medical alert tags. Trust me, this a much cheaper way to get your medical alert information out there. Plastic or metal tag on a chain around your neck will tell any emergency responder what they need to know about your health.
  • Bicycle tags. Tag your bike and make it easier to recover if stolen. Get a metal tag engraved with your name (DO NOT use a social security number, phone number, or address!!!) and afix it solidly to a discrete spot--like under the seat or the bottom of the frame with super glue.
  • Kid tags. Tag your kid! Put an "If lost, phone ...." message on a bright plastic tag and hook it to your child's coat or let them wear it around like a necklace.
  • Lunch box tags. Let everybody know just whose tuna sandwich that is--tag your lunch box with a message that says "Hands off, this lunch belongs to ."
  • Gift tags. What a cool idea for gift tags! The tag itself becomes a useful name tag for the lucky recipient.
  • Wine glass tags. Having a big party? Order a tag for every guest and tie it around the base of a wine glass with a pretty ribbon. Makes a great place tag as well as making sure everybody knows whose glass is whose.
  • Musical instrument tags. A name tag attached to the handle of your violin case will sure make it easy to keep track of in band class!
  • Losable items tags. How many umbrellas have you left on the bus? Tag 'em! How about reading glass cases? Cell phone?
Important!

What's a pet tag's best use?

Remember: a dog without a dog tag is a dog without a return address!
