❂ 21 Quizzes and Satellite Images

What are you looking at?
Satellite images can be crazy!
I enjoy looking at satellite images of the earth. I like to try and guess what things are when seen from the air.
Look at these unidentified maps and satellite photos and see if you can guess what they are.
Just take a look at that picture on the left. Is it a flesh-eating bacteria? Is it gravy that fell off the meat loaf? Could it be brown lava-ooze coming out of Texas?
.

I decided to add a quiz after each image and hope you will play along. My hope is that visitors to this lens will have fun guessing the locations of the images, have fun taking the quizzes, get points for taking the quizzes, and maybe even earn the "Studying Hard" trophy .
The quizzes begin at Image #1. Good luck!

How much do you enjoy maps?
I've always enjoyed looking at maps. Whether it's "map view" or "satellite view" I can spend lots of time just looking at terrain and trying to guess at what I'm looking at. It started in a high school class way back in the day, and we had to look at images of the earth taken from an airplane. We had to figure out what the buildings and structures on the ground were. I wasn't very good at it, but it fascinated me how differently things look from the air. I distinctly remember being shocked at what a golf course looks like. Since then, whenever I'm in a plane I have my eyes focused on the ground trying to identify schools, malls, cemeteries, and golf courses.

- Fun. If you watch James Bond movies, the Federal Depository at Fort Knox will be an easy one (Goldfinger), as will the Aracebo Observatory in Puerto Rico (Goldeneye). Cape Cod is an easy one (for anyone who studied geography of the U.S. ... --it looks like an appendix)... and the bombing area at Nellis AFB in Nevada... also familiar. Some of the others--the freeways (could look like any of the messes in the Los Angeles area), and the farmlands (Nebraska, Montana, Arkansas) could be almost anywhere with the same topography. Fun test! I've liked, favorited, thumbs-upped, and lensrolled your masterpiece! Congrats on a great job!
