Before you even thinking of earning the nice and juicy pharma sales rep salary and cash incentives, make sure you get 2 important things right:1) Your get into the right pharmaceutical company
2) You get into the right product portfolio i.e. you get to cover the hottest selling products in the hottest marketplace.

I can tell you honestly that these two important positioning will set the tone for the rest of your pharmaceutical sales rep job days. They'll influence how much you'll get rewarded if you hit your budget (since many souls join pharmaceutical industry primarily for the money) which influence how motivated you are to stick around and make some more dough, and will determine how jealous your co-workers with your flashy cars and fully-furnished-ocean-looking condos (kidding!)...
But seriously...

Writing good resume is the most important first step to get you knocking a pharmaceutical company door
In my 10 years experience working with Multinational pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer and Roche, I believe resume, good written resumes, can get you knocking a pharmaceutical company door faster than a speeding bullet. Although there are other getting to the front door in a flash trick but resumes are your best bullet.
Why?
Resume can be filed and referred to when needed. And you can send as many resumes as you want to a different potential pharmaceutical employer. This creates nice career safety net if you asked me. I do read the filed resumes from time to time just to see if anything changes and I got people to address it. And I do polish my resume yearly in case, you know, good opportunity knocks...
But bottom line is, write impeccable resumes for your potential pharmaceutical sales job employer and keep polishing them up. Oh! Just to keep you kick you off with your project, I've prepared a template which you can copy for your sales job resumes
