This lens was part of an experiment that I've been conducting over the past three weeks. For a complete explanation, check out my blog, but here's a quick recap.
The TV show Lost has been running an innovative web campaign some call "The Lost Experience" and others refer to it as the "Alternative Reality Game". It's a fun and interesting puzzle that uses a variety of clues from several web sites and has tie-ins to the TV show. It's also a clever marketing tool, as several of the sites and clues have corporate sponsors like Sprite, Jeep, and Monster.com.
I created a fake site that appeared to be tied into the game. Without any promotion, people found my fake site and started solving my fake clues. This Squidoo lens was a big component of my experiment. Now that I've let the cat out of the bag I decided to update this lens, so it makes a bit more sense.
The experiment has been interesting and I'm hoping I haven't annoyed too many people by "wasting" their time with my fake clues. I'm hoping some folks found it somewhat entertaining, and I think some people might find my explanation of the experiment, what I did, and how I did it interesting as well.
I will add a couple of modules which provide information about the experiment, and some useful Lost info. I will also leave the original modules from when this was the PHI-ERI lens - just so you can see what it was like.
