About me

Hello World!

My name is Philip Semakula.  I am interested in helping others, health and personal development.

I have a son whose smile never fails to brighten my day, three younger sisters, four nephews and one neice!

When I am not working on my ventures, I love to spend time with my family and enjoy reading personal development books.  I have been interested in health and fitness for many years, and I enjoy helping others improve their health!

This lens is in support of The Squidoo Charity Fund (stumbleupon review), Action Against Hunger, and the Food for Everyone Foundation.  There are hundreds of charities to choose from here at Squidoo, giving us all a chance to give back and help some of the less fortunate!

Helping children is one of my greatest passions! No child should be without safe shelter, food, clean drinking water!  Together we can make a difference for children around the globe!

"Most of our unrealized aspirations, hopes for the future, deepest commitments, and love lies with our children. Starving children are denied the opportunities and benefits of a healthy body and a full life."

Early 2006

I was in the warehousing industry until about a year and a half ago when the company I was working for as a warehouse supervisor announced they would be closing the Canadian office.

A few days before the announcement, I had a great review and was looking into courses, excited about the future and working my way up to management.

I had thought about starting a home-based business before so this closure turned out to be my opportunity to find something that I could feel really great about!
I started looking at some opportunities and through the maze of hype and "you too can be wealthy if you do what I did" was able to find a few great opportunities.

Our son would not have to grow up in a day care, I could spend more time with my family, help others and make a difference in peoples lives!

I believe everything happens for a reason and sometimes what we perceive as a setback at first is really an opportunity!

What are you going to be?

As a child I remember wanting to be a fireman, or police man but that changed as I got older, not that anything is wrong with being a fireman or a police man, it's just not me.
I heard people say things like "I have wanted to do that since I was a kid" and thought "wow", I must be missing something because I had no idea what I wanted to be!

Now I think it never was really a "what" question for me but more of a "who" I wanted to be! I want to be someone that helps others. (Yes, I realize fire, policemen and women help others too!)

I want the people that are part of my life or that I meet to have a positive experience and vice versa. To inspire and be inspired because I think that is when we truly rise to our greatest potential!

USANA HEALTH SCIENCES DONATES $110,000 TO CHILDREN'S HUNGER FUND / FOOD DISTRIBUTION

USANA Health Sciences announced today that it has expanded its long-standing support to a leading international charity, Children's Hunger Fund (CHF), with a $110,000 donation for the purchase and maintenance of a new semi truck for distribution of food, clothing and other critical relief aid.

As a result of USANA's donation, CHF estimates that it will be capable of distributing several million pounds of relief supplies each year, including nearly 2 million meals to needy children and families. USANA will also donate funds annually to offset the costs of operating the new truck, and the company will continue its existing sponsorship of a second truck in CHF's fleet.

"Much of the challenge in serving the needs of poor children is in transportation. We can garner donations from sources all over the country, but if we can't get it to where it's needed, we are simply missing the opportunity," Children's Hunger Fund President Dave Phillips explained. "USANA has become a highly valued corporate partner to CHF, allowing us to reach thousands of needy children each month through their generous support. USANA's decision to support CHF in this way will increase our efficiency and our ability to feed the needy across America and around the world. For that we are extremely grateful."
