Phillips Flatscreen LCD TV, HDTV and Cheap Phillips Televisions

I've had a 61" 1080i DLP tv for some time and have always enjoyed the HD picture. I got my PS3 and as a technojunkie, I wasn't happy that my PS3 had capabilities I could not use. So I immediately went out and got myself an Onkyo 7.1 receiver and all the speakers to give me 7.1 surround. Then, shortly thereafter I wanted 1080P because the PS3 still did things that I couldn't see. I got this TV. Now I realize how dated my DLP set is and how AWESOME LCD HDTV technology is. This set is not a cheap alternative to other sets. The picture is gorgeous. There is an annoying setup process when you first turn it on, but once that is done, it's smooth sailing. I can't speak to the audio quality as I don't use it. Well worth the money.

The Philips 47PFL7422 is an excellent tv in all respects (I actually own the 7432, which has ambilight - this is the only difference between the two TVs). Though I would not consider myself an extremely picky buyer, I did a fair amount of research before purchasing this TV, and I believe it is the best marriage of quality and cost.

I picked the TV on sale at Best Buy, for the size and contrast ratio (3200-1)plus a DTV tuner its very good buy and I paid about $90 less than the price above at the time if this review. I use it mainly to play Xbox 360 games on but it also shows DVDs and other HD media very well. My only gripe is that the remote is very basic but does the job however I also own a Philips DVD player and the remotes conflict a little. A nice feature is the USB connection you can plug ina memory stick and view media off it or use it to update the TVs software.

As good if not the best picture for a LCD TV for both HD and Standard TV. Low power consumption 140 watts, lighter weight than plasma (one person can move and install this TV), does not suffer from burn in as easily as plasma, has an HDTV ATSC tuner that allows me to watch HDTV without the cable company's HD tuner (ComCast is my cable provider and a friend of mine that has this same TV with Insight cable reports also getting HDTV without the cable company tuner), ability to download and update operating software through the USB port and a home computer.
