Gifts of inspiration and wisdom to be cherished
Great people with enormous wisdom have always inspired us. My favorites.
Kahlil Gibran lived from 1883 to 1931.
"Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars."
"Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart."
"His power came from some great reservoir of spiritual life else it could not have been so universal and so potent, but the majesty and beauty of the language with which he clothed it were all his own." -- Claude Bragdon
Reinhold Niebuhr
American theologian, 1892-1971
""Family life is too intimate to be preserved by the spirit of justice. It can be sustained by a spirit of love which goes beyond justice."
Rudyard Kipling
Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) was born in Bombay, but educated in England at the United Services College, Westward Ho, Bideford. In 1882 he returned to India, where he worked for Anglo-Indian newspapers. Kipling was the recipient of many honorary degrees and other awards. In 1926 he received the Gold Medal of the Royal Society of Literature, which only Scott, Meredith, and Hardy had been awarded before him.
