Phooning to Save the World

Phooning allows even ordinary people to achieve greatness by being the first person to phoon in their locality.

What is Phooning?

Phooning is the act of striking a pose where all the limbs are bent at the joints, and the body is bent forward at the waist.

The pose seen in the photo is a phoon.

How to Phoon or the Art of Phooning

Stand sideways to the camera. (A Phoon is always viewed from the side.)
Bend your arms at the elbows. (Look like an athletic runner, not a ballerina.)
Lift your rear elbow (not your hand)
so that it is easy to see behind your back.
Lean forward at the waist.
This will help you look more energetic and will help you lift your rear ankle.
When possible, do not look at the camera and do not smile.
Either arm can be the rear arm. Either leg can be the rear leg.
Try to have an exotic or ridiculous background.

In many phoon photos the phooner appears in the background of a normal family or tourist photo and may not be immediately noticed.

Where did the word "Phoon" come from?

In 1980, I sneaked a particular pose into a family photo and my loving mother tolerated my doing the same pose in many more of that summer's family vacation photos. I nicknamed it the Phoon (pronounced "foon").

Who Invented Phooning

John Darrow of phoons.com invented phooning.

He invented phooning in his youth, but the first official Phoon occurred at Bloomingdale's May 06, 1999.
