Introduction

Microsoft Pro Photo Tools 2.2 business software is available as a FREE download. This freeware from Microsoft is intended for use by professional photographers.

Nonetheless, novice users will benefit from its use as well. With Microsoft Pro Photo Tools, you can view and edit metadata in a digital image and more. If your images contain GPS data, you can view their location in the built-in Virtual Earth viewer. Or, you can easily add the geographical metadata yourself. The picture file can be read by other imaging software, including Adobe products.

STEP 1

Download the Microsoft Pro Photo Tools installation file using the "Download Microsoft Pro Photo Tools" link below under Resources.

STEP 2

Click the SAVE FILE button to download the installation file to your desktop.

STEP 3

Click the SAVE FILE button to download the installation file to your desktop.

STEP 4

Click on the installation file to run Microsoft Pro Photo Tools installation and setup (ProPhotoTools.msi).

STEP 5

Click the RUN button if the "Open File - Security Warning" appears.

STEP 6

Read the information on the Microsoft Pro Photo Tools Setup Wizard dialog window. Then, click the NEXT button.

STEP 7

Read the Microsoft "End-User License Agreement." Click "I accept the terms in the License Agreement" radio button. Click the NEXT button to continue.

STEP 8

Check the "Create shortcut for Microsoft Pro Photo Tools on the desktop" check box (optional). Click the INSTALL button to start the installation.

STEP 9

Monitor the Microsoft Pro Photo Tools installation and setup.

STEP 10

Click the FINISH button to complete the installation and setup.

STEP 11

Use the shortcut you created on the desktop or the start-up icon on your Start menu to launch Microsoft Pro Photo Tools.

Microsoft Pro Photo Tools 2.2 supports some file formats, such as JPEG and TIFF, without any additional software. However, some camera formats might require download and installation of a codec from the camera manufacturer.
