Author Robert Hudovernik spent 7 years of sleuthing finding that out!

Aflfred Cheney Johnston was Flo Ziegfeld's hand picked photographer for the famed Ziegfeld Follies. He was a contemporary of Alfred Stieglitz and Edward Stiechen. Why are they so well known in the annals of American photography and Alfred Cheny Johnston is not? Find out the answer at http://alfredcheneyjohnston.com/BookPage.htm

Jazz Age Beauties - Alfred Cheney Johnston's Ziegfeld Photos

The images and text presented are from the book "Jazz Age Beauties: The Lost Collection of Ziegfeld Photographer Alfred Cheney Johnston" by Robert Hudovernik, my friend and mentor, used here with his kind permission. Set to an original vintage Broadway recording of "A Pretty Girl Is Like A Melody" sung by John Steel in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1919. The only text I've added is costume info for Louise Brooks, Doris Eaton's birthday, and that Helen Brown became Helen Hayes. This video celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Ziegfeld Follies: 1907-2007. For more info visit: http://www.alfredcheneyjohnston.com/

Wonderful accompaniment by John Steel, and beautifully presented here. This Irving berlin tune from the 1818 Follies has been my favorite song for years, It never grows old--much like these treasured images.
