Photography and Precious Memories

Are You Looking for That Special Unusual Gift for Someone or perhaps something for yourself? This lens might just provide the solution

Everyone has photos and just about everyone has a problem with storing them unless they are very well organized. My photos amount to probably several hundred and unfortunately most are stuck in old fashioned albums, whereby they are now very hard to remove This lens aims to give you some ideas about best photography practices and introduces some special systems that help store photos in ways you never dreamed of. With the technology of the modern age digital photos can now be stored on computers and on discs, and so forth, but take a look at what else you can do with them.

Old Pics Worth Storing

This could be the future Miss Universe, if they had such a thing back then. This image of me on Bondi Beach is not the most flattering but it shows the damage that stored photos can suffer over the years.

This image is precious as there were so few opportunities for photos in those days and this was taken by a freelance photographer who would charge probably less than 10 cents for a shot. That was a lot of money for my folks.

Today's photos can be stored correctly on computers, on discs. videos and in albums or books. With digital cameras and the clever way they work there is no excuse for not keeping precious images precious.

The Change in Camera Technology

Nor its all just point and click

My brother gave me my first camera when I was about 8 to 9 years old. It was the greatest thing anyone has ever given me.

With that small black box thing I took oodles of photos that I still go back to to remember my childhood and the lovely family members, who are no longer here. No one else in the family were keen photographers but it was my hobby and although the cost of film and developing of it was expensive (at least for me) for some 8 or 9 years my memories are recorded.

Every child should have a camera to explore their world. Its far better to photograph the environment than to destroy it. With mobile phones that are also cameras there is no need to purchase one if they have the former, But recently I bought a small digital camera, the first for many years, and am loving the simplicity of it. It is very similar to the one shown.

Now it is up to me to look after the photos of my family, my grandchildren and of the things around us. Whilst my children are all keen on photography and there are hundreds, if not thousands, of images of us it is still the small camera that I own that takes my fancy. It reminds me of that wonderful gift from my loving and lovely brother.

It zooms in and out, focuses itself, has flash and a lot of whistles and knobs that I still can't quite configure. I know I can also take a short video on it as well. Its all great news for oldies like me who have difficulty with new fanged technology at times. At least now I can sound like an expert even if I am not one.

Nice lens Norma! BTW, if that old pic of you as a little girl is fading... you may want to take it to a good photographer who can take a high quality picture of that picture... so you have a back up in the case the original keeps fading. And thanks for telling me that my contact button was off... I thought it was on... whoops! Matt :)
