The Internet Isn't The Future - The Internet Is Now!! Photography Marketing Is Online & Offline

Marketing isn't limited to offline or online environments. However, it is critical to note the rising significance of the internet. Today, a photographer without a web presence isn't taken seriously. Period. Operating a photography business without a web presence is like trying to run a business without a telephone! Yes, the internet's significance is critical for any business's success.


This site will provide marketing tips, lessons, resources and strategies for online photography marketing as well as offline photography marketing.

Networking, Relationships and Speaking 

Relationships help people to remember you, know what you do, and tell other in their network.

Successful and effective marketing strategies don't have to be difficult or expensive. Most photographers do not enjoy the thought of having to market themselves. But, when properly understood, marketing your photography will be as natural to you as properly focusing your camera on your subject.

Marketing strategies (especially those that that are no-cost and very effective) include the following:

Word-of-mouth marketing - This type of marketing, when intentionally done right, will eventually be your most productive and most reliable source for promoting your photography business. Let your immediate networks spheres (that's a fancy category for family, friends, co-workers, business associates, neighbors, church members, member of social organizations, fraternaties, sororities, etc.) know about your photography business. Seek, develop and nurture relationships with others who come into regular contact with your target market. For example, if you're a wedding photographer, get to know the flower shops and limo businesses in your area so they will recommend your services.

Join Professional Associations - Join local organizations, civic clubs, associations, organizations associated with photography, etc. Find out when your local chamber of commerce, Rotary Club, or Toastmasters group holds meetings that you can attend, and exchange business cards with new people. Other business owners who haveĀ  successfully carved out a niche for themselves in other industries can be a wealth of information that you can learn from successful small business owners.

Speak Up - Make yourself available as a speaker to every professional, fraternal, and service organization in town. Most of these groups meet regularly - weekly or monthly. Develop a 10 - 20 minute presentation about your photography and photography services using a PowerPoint slideshow, of course, with some of your best photos. Make your presentation informative and helpful - but general, don't make a sales pitch for business. Have your business cards and brochres or some other handout (with your contact info) to distribute at the end of your presentation.

McDonald's is the #1 selling hamburger in the world! Yet, they wouldn't make the list of the 25 best hamburgers! They understand marketing. That's why they don't tell us that they sell hamburgers, they tell us that "we deserve a break today," "they like to see us smile," etc. In some communities, parents are viewed as mistreating their children if they don't allow them to eat at McDonald's! That's the results of marketing.

This How To Start A Photography Business guide does not teach you how to take better pictures or the latest lighting techniques etc. There are other people who do that better than me and after you get my guide I'll make sure you know who they are. I will teach you how I made a sensational income from photography. That's what this eBook focuses on - setting up and running your photography business.
