Interested in making your own Photo Mosaic?
A co-programmer once invited me to her wedding. I burned my brains out thinking of a suitable wedding gift. I didn't want to give them knives (they might end stabbing each other), plates and mugs (surely they'd have enough to open a restaurant after the wedding), photo albums... a car was out of the question... SO I settled for creating them a photo mosaic poster big enough so that they can use it as a blanket on their wedding night to play under or over it. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
Photo Mosaic? Well it's a big photo made up of lots and lots and lots of smaller photos. NOW this lens is about helping you attempt to create your own PHOTO MOSAIC and a THANK YOU to my Squidoo Fan Club. :-) Visit AMORSIKO.COM

"SQUIDOO UNITY THROUGH DIVERSITY"
A TRIBUTE TO MY FAN CLUB
...they deserve more than I can offer
This is a tribute to all the members of my Fan Club. The photomosaic above is the Squidoo logo made up of all your avatars. I call it "Unity through Diversity". When viewed from afar, you'll see the Squidoo logo but if you look closely like really close you'll see your avatars.
My lens cannot display the flash presentation of the photomosaic. But you can view it here.

View the Squidoo PhotoMosaic Fan Wall here at its normal size. It has a resoultion of 1800 by 1800 pizels at 30odpi. More close to an A4 size paper. The second link is a clickable version of the PhotoMosaic Fan Wall. Each avatar in the mosaic has a url that links directly to the lens masters Squidoo profile. Note: If you are using Firefox 3, you can zoom using this shortcut, CTRL + (scroll the mouse wheel up to zoom in and down to zoom out). | Mosaic Fan Wall | Clickable Fan Wall |
I hope this brings all your lenses significant traffic, a backlink and hopefully a small boost in Squidoo lens rank. This is a way of saying thank you for the support you all have given to my lenses. For my lenses are nothing without you people reading them.
I'll be updating the Photographic Mosaic Wall when time permits to include the new members of my Fan Club. I hope I do justice to your never ending support.
AGAIN, MY HEARTFELT THANKS!!!

What is a Photo Mosaic
...believe me Wikipedia can explain it better than I can
In the field of photographic imaging, a photographic mosaic (also known under the term Photomosaic, a portmanteau of photo and mosaic, trademarked by Runaway Technology, Inc.) is a picture (usually a photograph) that has been divided into (usually equal sized) rectangular sections, each of which is replaced with another photograph of appropriate average color. When viewed at low magnifications, the individual pixels appear as the primary image, while close examination reveals that the image is in fact made up of many hundreds or thousands of smaller images. They are a computer-created type of montage....
The Bare Essentials

We're going to need Adobe Photoshop for this tutorial again. Note that this tutorial comes from photoshop notes I have gathering dust bytes for several years. Let us give credit where credit is due. This tutorial is not an original (e.g | Cutting with Photoshop | Cutting with Gimp |) and was written by a photoshop guru (?) named Steve Patterson. Basically what I'm going to do is retype his tutorial.- No computer. No Photoshop. No Tutorial. So we need a computer. MAC or Windows, your choice.
- To keep things simple, let us use the images used by Steve.
- Join my Fan Club. :-) I think you know where to do this. WHY? It's a surprise and you better not scroll down the bottom.

Looking through a Squidoo Lens
...I just changed my mind.
Hell, I just changed my mind. I'm not going to retype Steve's work. I realized that this is a Squidoo lens and lenses are supposed to direct you to relevant information. Now I just found the exact same tutorial in the net (twasn't there a few minutes ago... I swear). So let's lens our way to that tutorial and learn a very very simple optical illusion. Trust me, you'll end up shaking your head muttering your way to the kitchen "I've been an idiot not to know that".- STEP 1: Cropping the Main Photo
- STEP 2: Crop the Smaller Photos
- STEP 3-4 Open A New Document, Drag Images Into Document
- STEP 5-7: Flatten, Desaturate, Define A Pattern
- STEP 8-10: Create New Layer, Fill New Layer, Change Blend Mode
