Photographs of Red Things.

I like red things. How about you?

Buoyed by kind comments from readers of my other photo lenses (links below), I'm tabling my red photos.

Here they are, for your utility and pleasure. Check back often, as this hot collation is sure to fire!

Mosquito Olympics

Over and out!

dead mosquitoes red white

I was hunting red things and what did I find? A stop-motion still-life of the mosquito long jump! This red is the base a SALE sign in a rug shop. What tiny dramas unfold around us each moment. For my finale, I draw your attention to the white section. Do you see the serried silhouette of 1890s shops? That's the glass reflecting the other side of the street! I wish I could claim I'd done that on purpose. But it's just another happy photography accident.

Plane Red

A rosy take on flying.

type=text

Plenty here for fans of perspective.

Saved By The Bell

An alarming development.

type=text

This photo has my ringing endorsement. How about yours?

Dino

Is this car red-faced or what?!

type=text

In response to Dave's comment below, I present this sports car. It looks like a Ferrari, but it has Dino on the badge. Maybe you can fill me in. Anyway, it's red. And a tad more exciting than my Ford Fiesta!

Picture of Lilly

The 'other' Iron Lady.

type=text

Lilly is an Iron Fairy. A gift to my wife from a good friend. Lilly is a seated on another gift - a beautiful hand-made mosaic sphere. It's one of her favourite spots in our garden.

Red Burst

I already have a Banksia photo in this lens but ...

type=text

Just look at the vibrant energy in this photo! The florets look like they're ready to explode. I couldn't leave it out.

Curtain Call

Half time at Carrie Fisher's Wishful Drinking show.

type=text

I had a Cooper's Sparkling Ale. The one with the red label! Note the bright light from the iPhone. This is one of the reasons I love using available light only. Flash would've killed it.

Red Alert

Q. Why did the shopping trolley cross the railway line?

type=text

A. It didn't.

Red Slide

Take the plunge!

type=text

They say overcast days give the best light for photographs. I'm pretty happy with this one. The chipbark detail was a delightful surprise. As were the bright reflections on the slide. The lines of perspective offered by the whole playground give an Escher-like feel to this photo. The powers of my new camera continue to amaze me.

Hunk of Burnin' Love

Red cars DO go faster!

type=text

Not sure if this was a tragedy, a crime of passion or a plain old insurance scam. All I know is that someone, somewhere ... is in the red.

Bottler

Scrubbed up well.

type=text

The sun was low and the Banksia [?] was high. A perfect combo in suburban Melbourne.

Heading Out

Could this matchbox be any more dilapidated?!

type=text

The colour's gone. The scratch plate's scarred. The cardboard's collapsing. The edges are frayed. The matches are burnt. The grass looks like it can't wait for a decent rain shower to finish the job. Still, I hope this photo lights your fire.

Fiesta out Front

It's a new car!

type=text

This car is a little ripper. Being red, it goes up to 6.7% faster than other cars.

    Your images are radiating red! Well, done. I love blue but red and purple are a close second!

    Thank you for your visit and kind comment. As the creater of so many lenses yourself, I greatly appreciate your interest. :)

    I love your study in red. Lily the fairy atop her red mosaic globe would be my favorite shot if I were forced to pick one. It's amazing to me the beautiful shots that are possible with today's digital cameras. Of course the photographer's eye is still the most important element. I'm off to see your other colors.

    Thank you, Chris. It's been pretty rainy these last few weeks. But I hope to get out amongst it again soon. :)
  • ChrisDay Dec 18, 2010 @ 1:25 am | delete
    Now there's a challenge for the happy snapper - photographing rain as a theme - what about it?
  • PaulHassing Dec 18, 2010 @ 4:07 am | delete
    That is a great idea that I will give careful thought. Many thanks for the spark! :)
  • GrowWear Dec 5, 2010 @ 12:34 pm | delete
    Another winner. Love red! The matchbox girl reminds me of some of the avatars I've seen around Squidoo.
  • PaulHassing Dec 5, 2010 @ 1:41 pm | delete
    Thank you, Mimi. You're very kind. I find that image quite evocative. And I like how even though the box is long gone, this image persists. Best regards, P. :)

    Indeed, my father-in-law pushed my wife down the aisle in that red trolley. Red is lucky. Unfortunately, in so doing, she broke the eggs, but that is a story for your yellow lens. Great work! Carry on ...
  • PaulHassing Dec 1, 2010 @ 5:56 pm | delete
    Many thanks for that excellent share, Ad! You certainly are a colourful character. :)
  • scar4 Nov 11, 2010 @ 12:08 am | delete
    Red is one of the hottest and popular colors that often be used in Chinese wedding ceremony decoration.
  • PaulHassing Nov 11, 2010 @ 12:10 am | delete
    I'd fogotten about that; many thanks for the reminder! :)
  • adamnrave Nov 8, 2010 @ 11:44 pm | delete
    Lilly trumps them both. Perhaps replace your flagship Fiesta top level shot with one of your others? Red with interest though ... :)
  • PaulHassing Nov 8, 2010 @ 11:55 pm | delete
    That is an excellent idea, Ad. Many thanks! :)
  • EditorDave Nov 6, 2010 @ 12:37 am | delete
    I've got a picture of a RED Ferrari... with my daughter standing next to it. So yes, I like red. I've liked, favorited, thumbs-upped, and lensrolled your great lens! Congrats on a great job!
  • PaulHassing Nov 6, 2010 @ 12:40 am | delete
    I think Ferrari trumps Ford Fiesta! Glad you're digging the scene, Dave. Thanks for all the great vibes. Best regards, P. :)
  • adamnrave Nov 3, 2010 @ 6:40 pm | delete
    Banksias post record florets. A good news Banksia story for a change!
  • PaulHassing Nov 3, 2010 @ 6:41 pm | delete
    Very clever! :)
  • adamnrave Oct 25, 2010 @ 11:06 pm | delete
    And the man at right is in a red check shirt. Nice.
  • PaulHassing Oct 25, 2010 @ 11:36 pm | delete
    Check!

    Mate!

    Well spotted! :)
  • adamnrave Oct 21, 2010 @ 10:28 pm | delete
    I find the matchbox photo kind of sad. Decay and death, even for a matchbox. Great lens though. The Paul Hassing Squidoo World sure is fascinating. Thanks.
  • PaulHassing Oct 21, 2010 @ 10:37 pm | delete
    I totally hear you on that one, Ad. I feel the same. I comfort myself with the thought that this box decayed to nurture the soil for nearby trees. All we need do is chop them down and make cardboard and matches out of them and the circle will be complete! Love your comments, Mate. Thank you. :)
