Many photoshop artists have been inspired by speed painting of Nico Dimattia on YouTube and have tried to emulate his work. To date, this maverick speed painter continues to be the best.
Nico directed two new animated short films between 2007 and 2008, which are participating in different national and international film festivals.
Currently, he works independently in animation, film direction and post-production, as well as a freelance illustrator for different business and private clients.

While it is true PhotoShop is the elite program for speed painting, it carries a hefty price tag, and let's face it, it takes a while to learn it.

I 'm using PhotoImpact 12 by Ulead and am finding it terrifically easy to learn, much easier than Photoshop. It came as free software when my hubby bought me the Genius G-Pen F610 Graphics Tablet. So if you're just starting out and don't want to spend a lot of money, then check out the free software that comes with a lot of the graphics tablets.
