Photoshop and I
I have recently discovered Photoshop and I fell in love with it. Photoshop is a graphics editing program developed and published by Adobe Systems Incorporated. It is also an image creation software as well as an editor. The possibilities are endless. However, the program has so many features that I kind of got lost to start with. So, I decided to learn it step by step. I am going to build my lessons as I go and I hope you will find my lessons useful and easy to follow. As I am a beginner in Photoshop I am going to start with the basics and I'll expand as I learn myself. If you have any suggestions please feel free to make any comments for improvement.
Default Settings

The first thing I noticed as I started to work with Photoshop files was that any new file had the same settings as the last file I made. Eventually I realised that Photoshop remembers the settings, tools and panels I used in the last file I worked with. In order to get rid of those settings and start afresh, I worked out, after a lot of help readings, that I should restore the default settings. To restore the settings, follow these simple steps:
Step 1. Open a new .psd file.
Step 2. As the file is loading, hold down Ctrl-Alt-Shift.
Step 3. A new window will open (see image) and all you have to do s click Ok.

Creating a New Document in Photoshop
Step 1 Once the file is open you will see this new window (image) open up. If this window doesn't open up, go to File and choose New.
Step 2 Enter a name for the file in the 'Name:' box. My file name is Creating a New Document.
Step 3 Choose the document size you want for the file from the 'Preset:' pop-up box. In the image below you can see all the standard document sizes from Photoshop. I chose 'Custom'.

Step 4 Choose the width and length of the document. I chose to work in cm because Australia uses the metric system. However, the Resolution should always be in pixels/inch because this is the industry standard. Until I become more proficient with Photoshop I am going to choose for the 'Color Mode: RGB Color' and as 'Background Contents I chose White.

Step 5 Once this is done, click Ok and your Background is set.
And this is what it looks like:
