First step - Applying a gradient fill



1.Open a new document 200px X 200px

2. Choose the colors you want as checks pattern as your foreground and background colors.

3.Apply gradient fill diagonally (This step is very important )

Second Step - Applying the distort wave filter

Choose the wave option from distort filter and apply the above settings to get your checks pattern.

Filter > Distort > Wave


Third Step - Define Pattern

Choose the define pattern option from edit menu, name and save your new pattern.

Edit > Define Pattern > Save


Your new checks pattern is ready to use in your artworks!

    While I have had photoshop for a while, I have never really done much with it. I came across this lens and tried it. Took me a while but I was able to make a gingham square! Yay! Thanks so much! =)
