Here is a quick method to create a gingham check photoshop pattern in just 3 steps. You can design this seamless pattern very easily and effortlessly.

I discovered this easy method to create the checkered pattern while experimenting with creating stripes in photoshop.The simple steps can be used to create 100s of different combination in checks fabrics.

The pattern can also be used for fabric simulations,scrapbook layouts,web page backgrounds,etc.The use is in your imagination.

First step - Applying a gradient fill



1.Open a new document 200px X 200px

2. Choose the colors you want as checks pattern as your foreground and background colors.

3.Apply gradient fill diagonally (This step is very important )

Second Step - Applying the distort wave filter

Choose the wave option from distort filter and apply the above settings to get your checks pattern.

Filter > Distort > Wave

Third Step - Define Pattern

Choose the define pattern option from edit menu, name and save your new pattern.

Edit > Define Pattern > Save

Your new checks pattern is ready to use in your artworks!

    While I have had photoshop for a while, I have never really done much with it. I came across this lens and tried it. Took me a while but I was able to make a gingham square! Yay! Thanks so much! =)
