Ranked #4,035 in Education, #96,974 overall

Ready to Banish Wrinkles and Blemishes? Let's Begin ...

Girls, throw away the face cream. You ain't gonna need it. In just a few quick and easy steps, I'll show you how you can banish your blemishes, wreak havok on your wrinkles and have skin that is the envy of every red carpet super-model.

You'll need a graphics editor program to follow this tutorial. I'm using Adobe Photoshop but there are other programs, some freely available, such as Gimp, that may also be used. Follow along and enjoy.

Here is my recommendation

Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 [OLD VERSION]

Photoshop is the King of all graphics editors. With every release, the software offers something new for those working with graphics, from photographers to web designers.

Though it's an expensive purchase, for anybody working on the web, Photoshop is an essential part of your kit.

Photoshop Elements is a great option for beginners starting out with this superb program.

1. Let's Begin With A Picture .... A Nice Big Clear One

Let's begin. Choose a photo you want to enhance. Make sure it's a clear close up shot ... no matter how scary it looks right now:) I'm using a photo of my duaghter who looks perfect without any skin enhancements.

2.Duplicate Your Picture on a New Layer

Make a duplicate your the original layer by pulling layer1 down to the layer copy button indicated in yellow.

3. Get to Work By Add Some Cool Filters

Apply the Dust & Scratches filter by clicking on Filters - Noise - Dust & Scratches. After you have done this, add some Gaussian Blur by clicking - Filters - Blur - Guassian Blur. Adjust the radius until the skin seems smooth. A radius of 1 or 2 is usually sufficient and all the lines from the Dust and Scratches filter are smoothed out.

4. Still Hanging in with us?

Easy so far ...

Your picture should now look like this, kinda blurry and not really what we're after!!!

5. Apply A Mask and Let The Magic Begin

Next, we add a layer mask to our picture and fill it with black using the paint bucket tool. Do this by clicking on the layer mask as indicated at by the icon at the bottom of the layers palette. Select black from the colour palette and use the paint bucket to fill in the photo area. Don't be too alarmed if this shows you your original picture. This is exactly what we want to happen!

6. The Revelation .... Your Fresh New Skin is on it's Way

This is where it all begins to happen

And here comes the best part. Choose a nice soft brush. A 10px brush is good but this will vary depending on the size of your oringal photo and what part of the mask you are working on. Zoom into your photo if you need to. Choose white from the colour palette and use the white brush to mask out areas of the face. This reveals the perfectly smooth skin below. DO NOT go over your eyes, lips, eyebrows, nostrils or hairline. You'll end up looking like a plastic doll that's melted. Dab the brush gently around the eyes and hariline and try to leave some natural elements like freckles, laugh or smile lines and loose hair.

Tip - Experiment with the opacity of your brush while you are masking until you get a natural looking effect.

7. Wow, Aren't You Looking Gorgeous?

Viola!

Flatten your image as this will apply your layer mask. Play around with the saturation a little too. A little desaturation can work well.. When you've finished, you should have silky smooth skin as in the photo above. Now show it off!!
