PHPFOX 1.6

With all of the problems of phpFoX 1.5, the community slowly died down... there were so many bugs and a few people trying to make money fixing these bugs, rather than sharing the fixes.

When I learned of bug fixes, I tried my best to submit them... the problem was -- the Programming team was slow to fix the issues or just didn't seem to care.

Lately, with the release of 1.6 Beta (prior to Stable), the team seems to be VERY quick in fixing the bugs and other issues as soon as they are submitted.

The community seems to be slowly getting stronger and, once again, growing "as a community" and becoming more helpful... the company seems to be fixing all of the insider issues and the script, in general, is now growing bigger and better.

phpFoX's biggest competitor, Able Space, has gained a lot of popularity these days. With their very detailed program and integrated 3-d city, the program had become the top Social Networking Script for the price.

Luckily, for the consumer, phpFoX's 1.6 stable release comes equipped with the latest trends, including an integrated Video System that allows users to upload videos, similar to YouTube.com!

The vBulletin plugin is still available, although it's no longer supported by phpFoX, as they will be working on their forums over the next few releases...

In the past, they had vBulletin integration modules and plugins that were, to say the least, "iffy" and problematic.

Thankfully, the new forums should fix these issues.

With the release of phpFoX 1.6, the company's script no longer sucks!

AbleSpace vs. PHPFOX
AbleSpace is still my favorite script... but, lately, with their increase in sales, the company has become a little inefficient. Hopefully they will resolve these issues quicker than phpFoX did...

UPDATE: ABLESPACE SUCKS NOW

phpFoX is still the best product for the price. It's currently approximately half the price of AbleSpace, yet it's still VERY powerful and easy to design for, easy to extend, etc...

AbleSpace will hopefully move forward to enable these same features soon!

Both scripts have their problems...

AbleSpace is not open-source code at this point, but I hear they might make a change...maybe that's just a rumor, though!

phpFoX was obfuscated code back in the day, but thankfully, with a little push from the users, they have created the code to be open source and it has indeed helped the script grow to new heights.

Overall, for the price - I would suggest phpFoX at this point if you can't afford to shell out the price for AbleSpace...

But, if you have the money - AbleSpace is a kick ass system with a lot of great benefits that your users will absolutely LOVE you for!
