A Personal Review of phpFoX
Just so you know, I am an experienced webmaster and have had my hands in a lot of scripts. This review is my take on the phpFoX social networking script after a year of running a community with it.

Now that you know that, let me start the review...It has been months and I have still not had any problems whatsoever with the phpfox script.
I've updated it from the older version to konsort 1.51... NO PROBLEMS
I've uploaded many of the supported phpfox mods that you can integrate with phpfox... NO PROBLEMS
I've added my own custom pages to phpfox using the integrated HTML editor available in the konsort 1.51 release... NO PROBLEMS!
I've done all of this with NO PROBLEMS. The only time I did have a problem was when I tried to upload the file Google gives webmasters to allow them to verify and crawl their website... for some reason when I pulled up my website all I could see was the dreaded white screen.
But don't be thinking the script is crap just yet, because it isn't. I contacted phpfox customer service about the issue, and they recovered my site within a couple of hours... which is simply amazing, I've never had that kind of customer support in my life, which makes me glad I chose to go with phpfox over all of the other social networking, facebook clone scripts out there, so hats off to you phpfox. Turns out the problem happened because of my human error, I accidently deleted a file instead of adding a file because I wasn't really paying attention to what I was doing. The google file was uploaded with no problems the second time.
For those of you that don't know, phpfox is an open source social network script that allows you to create and customize your very own social networking website like facebook or myspace. You do not need to know anything about web design or web development, you simply log into the admin control panel and simply fill in the spaces with any content, banners, or advertisements you want.
The best part is phpfox offers custom phpfox design, integration, and modding for their customers scripts. All you have to do is purchase the script and contact them via their custom development page on phpfox's website to have special features added to your script.
If you have no clue about how to install the phpfox portal social networking script onto your web host's server, then don't worry, the people at phpfox will install it for you in a very timely manner. I had them install mine just because I didn't have a whole lot of time to mess around with it and they had it up and running within a couple of hours.The price is great for the service and quality of script that they offer, within a couple of weeks my phpfox powered social networking website had already been indexed into major search engines, which is another great thing about phpfox, it comes to you already search engine optimized.
I spent a long time looking for a quality script that was backed by excellent customer service and an innovative company, and I am glad the research pointed me to phpfox. I could've gone with other social networking scripts like drupal, buddy zone, or e-friends, but none of them offered the customer service, updates, integrateable features, or level of customability that phpfox portal offers.
Granted, phpfox is more expensive than a lot of other social networking scripts, but there's a reason for that... they are constantly improving it and provide all updates for free, so in essence you are having a team full of professional developers find all the bugs and tweaks and constantly adding improvements for you at no cost... that feature in itself costs social networking sites like myspace and facebook millions of dollars a year that they have to pay their employees to do themselves.
Updates aren't bad, they are improvements, and should be a representative of the companies desire to improve an already great product that will just continue to get better.
With phpfox you can take any dream you may have for a social networking website and turn it into reality, whether it be through the editor they provide you or through the custom phpfox design feature they offer to script owners. Patience is a virtue when it comes to developing a profitable website, let alone a social network. Many huge websites today were around years before they found success. Just take a look at Blogger, which is now owned by google, I bet you didn't know it has been around for eight years! In fact today is Bloggers birthday. This tool has been one of the many reasons why blogging has become so popular, and now that Google has bought it out, blog publishers on Blogger now have a chance to easily integrate Google Adsense ads into their blog to make some extra money.Some interesting facts about Blogger:
It currently ranks 14 in traffic according to Alexa.com
In 2003 it already hosted over a million blogs, of which 200,000 were active
The entire staff was let go after the dot com bust...
The owner (Mr. Williams) continued to maintain it by himself from home!
I'm sure there were times when he thought things were going pretty rough, especially when the dot com bust happened and he had to lay off his entire staff. He still had the tenacity to bounce back and continue to run his service, and now I'm sure he is more than happy with what he was able to accomplish with his website!
It takes Time, Talent, and Tenacity to make it. Shooting for the long term is something that should never go out of style.

Null means Null... never download a nulled phpFoX script

The thing is, once any script has been nulled the creators have no way of tracking it. It usually ends up like this, someone buys a licensed copy of a script and removes the callback code from within it that lets the creator track it. Once this happens the script is usually freely distributed to friends, friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends.
* For one thing, even if it is nulled, there still is a chance you could get caught, there are programs called IP loggers that can track where things were downloaded from and too.
* You do not get customer service from phpfox, and let me tell you, it does come in handy!
* You are cut out of updates, so the version you have is the version you will have to work with!
* You cannot download and integrate the handy mods phpfox offers to script owners (the ones that legally pay for a copy).
* You'll piss off your host provider as many web hosts try to look for these kinds of things and do not allow the use of illegal scripts on their servers.
Save yourself time and embarrassment, buy and download a legal copy from PHPFOX, they put in the time and effort to create it, so the credit should go to them, they earned it. Plus they will fix the bugs instead of you spending hours upon hours going through endless pages of php code trying to find out why you keep getting parse errors...
Do yourself a favor and save some time, download a legal copy of phpfox. It is guaranteed to work and you will have free updates and customer service for life. That to me has made it well worth the price.
