Limestone shoals with only a few sandy beaches, comprise the East Coast. There are spectacular limestone islands that can be seen on the horizon, and the coral gardens are full of excited marine life. There are more waters surrounding the island, and sadly, much of Phuket's coral has been disappearing because of environmental issues and human neglect.
Divers and enthusiasts alike, head to Similan and Surin islands, which are several are hours away by boat. These islands offer some of the best diving in the world. Another killer destination is the stunning interior of the islands with views that are considered by many visitors as some of the most beautiful in the world. All of these areas add to Phuket's appeal internationally.

As there only two seasons in the year to contend with - one being rainy season that runs from May to October, and other is the hot season which runs from November to April. During the off-peak season, September and October are the worst months of the year.
