Phuket nightlife

Phuket nightlife has come on leaps and bounds in the past few months. What was once a fairly stale scene has morphed into a hub of nocturnal activity.

For a start, there are the local Thai clubs. In these nightclubs you'll find Thai bands playing popular indie hits and DJs playing an odd assortment of techno music. The fun revolves around bottles of whiskey and dancing until the bouncers tell you to stop. Phuket Town nightlife is probably the best place to check out Thai bands.

On a slightly different tip is Patong nightlife, which is full of interesting sites. In Patong, you'll find trendy bars, serious dance clubs, hip hop clubs and, of course, go-go bars and beer bars.

As for the rest of Phuket nightlife, there is so much just waiting to be discovered, such as reggae bars and jazz clubs.

Although Phuket nightlife still has a long way to go before it can compete with the likes of Bangkok, Phuket is changing and the music scene is slowly maturing.

To be honest, though, there is still an emphasis on just getting blind drunk and going with the flow.
