Anxiety Panic Attack Symptoms: How Serious Are They?
If you've experienced the symptoms I will describe below, no need to panic (pun intended), but it's simply good to know what these are. I will mention later on what helped me with my panic attacks, so you won't remain stranded.
I've heard from people who had all 5 symptoms at the same time. I, personally, only had 2-3 at a time. But knowledge is power, so the more you know, the easier is to take charge.

Palpitations - Aka Rapid Heartbeat
The most common anxiety panic attack symptom
Rapid Heartbeat. Now this is something that pretty much everybody can relate to. Including me. And...this is the most misunderstood symptom. 90% of the folks I talked to, have mistaken it for a heart attack. Yep, including me.When you're in for a real heart attack, the main symptom is a strong crushing sensation inside the chest and a continuous sort of pain. When you're experiencing palpitations related to panic attacks, you are mostly focused on the quick and rapid beating of the heart itself. Have you heart people saying something similar to:"I can hear my heart beating even in my ears!"? Well that's a panic attack symptom, not a heart attack symptom. Shall we say 'thank god for small miracles'?
In a nutshell, this is how an anxiety panic attack palpitations feel like:
* A racing heart
* Skipping beats
* Jumping around heart
* Beating/Pounding
* Fluttering
* The heart feels as if it is stopping
* A Flopping sensation in the chest
Before I continue, I'd like to clear up any misconception. Panic attacks are serious business. Even though it's not even coming close to a heart attack (which is a physical condition), please do not take these attacks lightly. They can severely imbalance your life.
Recommended Books On Panic Attacks
Shortness Of Breath
Or the second most common anxiety panic attack symptom
Also called difficult breathing, or Dyspnea, shortness of breath is, sadly, one of the worst symptoms you're going to experince when you're having a panic attack. This is simply because of human reflex.Shortness of breath gives you the feeling that you can't take air, you don't have any air in your lungs. Imagine being underwater with your scuba diving set, and the oxygen is going to finish in the tank. You're grasping, grasping for air, trying to squeeze whatever still comes through. Not a nice feeling, I'm telling you.
"I had panic attacks during rehearsal. There were times when I really thought I wasn't going to be able to do it."
~William Petersen
Nausea And Vomiting
Nausea - This symptom doesn't really need a lot of words, as we've all experienced it one way or another, even when it had nothing to do with anxiety panic attacks.Nasty, no doubt.
Something that helps at with this, at least temporarily, is applying a cold wash cloth to your mouth. Sprinkle it with a few lemon drops. Lemons, and generally sour, tend to help with nausea.
Profuse Sweating
A very common symptom
Excessive Sudden Sweating goes hand in hand with anxiety attacks. Note that I mentioned 'excessive'. Sweating is very common. It usually occurs due to heat or exhaustion (sports, etc). However excessive sweating, which occurs suddenly is not common, unless you have some sort of condition, anxiety panic attack being one of them.Excessive sweating is also called 'anxiety sweating', exactly for that reason, because 90% of the time when it occurs, and there's no visible or rational reason for it to occur, it points back to anxiety panic attacks.
This particular symptom can cause you a lot of emotional grief, because this kind of sweating does bring a kind of social stigma with it. Nobody likes to sit next to a bad smelling person, period.
Lucky, there are ways to treat anxiety panic attacks, so if you've ever felt this burdening symptom, there is yet hope!
"I start sweating and shaking and having panic attacks if I am not at home."
~Daniel Johns
Dizziness
or feeling faint
In this particular case, synonyms of dizziness are also:* Vertigo
* Lightheadedness
* Imbalance
* Disequilibrium
When you're having an anxiety attack, dizziness never comes alone. It is usually accompanied by palpitations, numbness and/or tingling in any part of the body, blurred vision, confusion, difficulty speaking, loss of movement in the arms or legs and sweating.
Having these symptoms occur at the same time, it's a 90% guarantee that you're having a panic attack! It's definitely not a stroke, nor a heart attack.
Have You Ever Felt These Panic Attack Symptoms Before?
Other symptoms of anxiety panic attacks
more or less common
Worth mentioning are the following symptoms:
* painful shyness
* stomach cramps
* anxiety while driving
* excessive yawning
* frequent blushing
* obsessive thoughts
* headaches (combines many times with dizziness and vertigo)
* unexplained muscle soreness
* insomnia
* dry mouth
* nail biting
* nervous ticks
* acute self-awareness
* feeling of paranoia, or being 'under attack'

Getting Help With Anxiety Panic Attacks
What Helped With My Anxiety Panic Attacks
and what didn't
What finally clicked with me was something else, a completely different system. Not a pill, neither an ebook, but, an entire coaching solution, which took me by hand, step by step. I have to say, I no longer have panic attacks. My worst kind of attack used to be while driving on the highway everyday back and forth from work. I was about to change jobs because of that. Now I'm fine, and happily driving every day without anxiety.
As a final note, let me tell you one more thing. ACCEPTANCE. Yes, you've read it right.
Many people are simply fighting the fact that they have this disorder and taking pills after pills to make it go away. But that just makes it worse.
Programs like the EasyCalm cognitive series is a long term solution. It will not only treat your anxiety panic attack symptoms, but also cure the emotional illness as well, and best of it - all naturally.
Because, let's face it, treating anxiety naturally is the only real long-term solution.
"Panic is a sudden desertion of us, and a going over to the enemy of our imagination."
~Christian Nestell Bovee

- I have been having heart palpitations for 7 years now after the birth of my first child. Agree with everything on this lens! I also started looking into magnesium deficiency and I fit the bill. When I increased my intake, it helped significantly! It's what worked for me as well as REGULAR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. It truly is a miracle worker!

- I have hyper active thyroid, which started my anxiety attacks years ago. I didn't realize how important your thyroid actually is and let it go for more than 11 years. All of a sudden, I started having anxiety attacks for no reason at all. I have to take prozac, 40 mg. a day, because nothing else works! I've tried relaxation, meditation all that, calling someone who can talk me through, and still I panic. When you suffer from depression, anxiety, panic, it's the serratonin in your brain that is unbalanced, and sometimes it takes medication to balance it all out. Unfortunately I thought I was fine after a year free of anxiety and went off the prozac on my own, now I have to start all over with 20 mg, which is doing me no good at all..my anxiety happens everyday now instead of a few times every couple of months. :0(

- Hi I’m Amanda, I enjoyed reading your lens. It’s really excellent!!!
I’ve often found people have driving anxiety because they feel out of control and overwhelmed by too much information. They may even remember bad situations from the past. Breathing control and visualization are some of the techniques I get people to use to overcome their anxiety. You can find some more good information on panic attacks and how to overcome driving fear on these other lenses.

- I found self-hypnosis helped - together with positive affirmations to counteract the root cause of the panic. It's still an ongoing process, but so far they've been the most helpful.
