Science and Maths and their Applications for Life the Universe and Everything
As a physicist I love to play with numbers and always want to understand how things work or why things happen, whether it be the meaning of life the universe and everything, how my cars work or why the stock markets behave like they do.
Physics is popular at the moment (in the UK) due, in part, to the regular appearances of Professor Brian Cox, an ex-rock-star tuned University professor and TV presenter. He somehow makes complex subjects interesting and relatively easy to understand.
Here are few science and maths articles, books and a few gift ideas for the scientist in your life including Newtonian mechanics and Fluid Dynamics (Physics), Galois and Group Theory (Maths) Black Scholes Option Pricing (finance) astronomy and Torque versus Power (a common pub argument)

Professor Brian Cox
Physics and science in general are cool at the moment (in the UK at least) partly because of Professor Brian Edward Cox, OBE, who is constantly on our TV screens explaining what's going on at CERN or presenting his various scientific TV shows.
Brian Cox started out as a rock-star in the 1990s as the keyboard player for the pop band D:Ream. He is a British particle physicist, a Royal Society University Research Fellow and a professor and a member of the High Energy Physics group at the University of Manchester. He has worked on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.

- I appreciate a lens like this Andy as I am an engineer. It's too bad we didn't chose professions that would have been more lucrative. Now that I am getting older, I find that my thoughts on certain topics are being sought. The operating phrase is, "I am getting older":~), too late to properly enjoy any rewards that might be forthcoming. See you around the galaxy...
