"Great product for the adult beginner. The pace is pretty quick and doesn't patronize the learner, but you really should have an instructor. It doesn't emphasize learning all the notes from the beginning but key notes that you can build upon. Learning piano can be overwhelming, but this book tells you what you need to know to start and builds on the the basics so it's actually easier to progress faster and really feel like you are learning something. The exercises mix different skills so it will be easier to do music from different books and not be stuck playing twinkle twinkle for the rest of your life. I had a beginner keyboard book and didn't learn anything, but three lessons using this book and I was already excited to start reading sheet music."

"I love this book. I used to play piano when I was 10 and then haven't really played since, I started taking piano again a few months ago. My teacher had this book and loaned it to me to practice with. The little quizzes in the beginning are really helpful to get the notes back into your mind. It has so many famous classical pieces as well as some newer choices. My favorite songs to play are "Fur Elise", "Canon in D", "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring", and "Minuet in G Major". The exercises are also really fun to play and help get the fingers warmed up. I loved the book so much I had to buy one for myself. If anyone has played even a little piano and want to learn more, this book should be #1 on your list."

"The best thing about this book, however, is that there are lots of songs you can play to practice. Within a week I was playing (not perfectly, but recognizably) Cockles and Mussels, When the Saints, Londonderry Air, Skater's Waltz, Home Sweet Home, Row Row Your Boat, Now is the Hour, Marianne, Long Long Ago, Frere Jacques and Greensleeves. This is *lots* more fun than playing the same one or two songs over and over again. Plus these songs are all arranged for two hands, with very simple left hand arrangements to start with."

"For the beginner, this book is excellent. I have looked at many piano books when I first began playing, and most of them were usually too complicated, or too simplistic. This book, however, was one that fell right in the middle and helped me understand all kinds of important ideas in music, such as harmony and melody, building chords and scales (and understanding HOW), reading music, how to understand progressions, and how to play by ear and improvise. It is certainly geared toward getting you "up and playing" in the simplest, fastest way, at a moderate pace, with a good depth of information that does not get overwhelming. Because of this, this book is probably suited much more for the person who has no music experience and wants to learn the basics of how to play out of fake books and begin improvising. It is probably not good for those who want in-depth and more advanced theory of music, but it is an excellent book to use as a stepping stone toward more adva! nced piano study. This is a must have book for any beginner."
