About Pickleball: What is pickleball?

Pickleball is an outdoor sport that combines different rules of ping-pong, tennis, badminton, using paddles similar to ping-pong. It is played on a badminton court size network with like rules of tennis. Pickleball uses a palette of wood and a ball baseball plastic perforated with holes. This game can be played on any hard surface, and has been for over 40 years.

Pickleball game is popular because it is easy to learn. Wiffle ball with the speed of the game can be slow for beginners. The ball is easier to hit a tennis ball or a ball ping pong. The Pickleball court is bigger and the game becomes easier with a short-term network. Players can play in a driveway, a badminton court, or all-purpose sports court. Pickleball is popular nationwide in the United States in fitness level high school courses, the YMCA, and health and fitness.

Pickleball History

Pickleball was created in the Puget Sound area outside of Seattle in Washington State in the 1960's. It was appointed by the dog of one of the co-creators, Pickles. Pickles, the legend, the persecuted and the collection of balls and hide them. The family began to play a ball game with Pickles. And so the name of the game after the dog. The co-inventor and owner of pickles, U.S. Congressman. UU. Joel Pritchard, originally played the game as family for fun in their backyards on a hard surface. Since the pickle-ball mid-1970's has grown and expanded from a game of family activity to a sport net cutting formalized rules and is currently playing in thousands of educational institutions, parks and recreation centers.

Buy Pickleball Net

The Pickleball Net is a high quality net that is easy to install. It is primarily used for indoor use but will also work outdoors. It is held together by strong 1/4 inch poly rope through 2" durable white vinyl top binding. The mesh and bottom tape are made of quality nylon materials. Size: 21' x 30" with 1" mesh. Note: This net does NOT come with net poles and bases. It is just the net. Net poles (like ones on a tennis court) are required to play. The net is made of a high quality heavier material that does not work well on the portable water filled net bases sometimes used. (Amazon Desc.)

Pickleball Rules

The first official rules of the game

Pickleball has three unique attributes that you won't find in any other racquet sport: the serve position, the double-bounce rule and the no-volley zone.

  • 1

Serve position- You put one foot in, you keep one foot out, you keep one foot in and you serve the ball. An inconvenient tree in the Pritchard's yard made it necessary for one side to serve with one foot inside the court. To keep the game fair, both sides were allowed to have one foot across the baseline when serving. The tree is no longer part of every pickleball game, but this unique service rule is.

  • 2

Double-bounce rule-In the early days (literally like the first two days pickleball was played) the server had a huge advantage. The player receiving the serve would have to wait for the ball to bounce. The server, meanwhile, could be in position for a quick return off the volley. The three founding fathers added the double bounce rule to take this advantage away. Now, the receiving team and the server must both hit their first shots off the bounce. After that, the ball can be volleyed.

  • 3

No-volley Zone-To make pickleball a game of finesse and strategy rather than just raw power the first dads instituted a no-volley zone in the seven feet on either side of the net. Within this zone, the ball must bounce before it is hit.

“The Most Important Thing!”

Safety

  • 1Do not work through someone else's court to recover pickle-ball.
  • 2Do not swing paddle wildly.
  • 3Do not swing your paddle if someone is in your way.
  • 4Gently roll or throw (do not beaten) the ball back.
  • 5Keep use the strap around the wrist paddle.

REMEMBER, PICKLEBALL is a sport where the placement, consistency, patience, and tactics of SHOOTING has an importance far greater than GROSS ENERGY AND FORCE

It is finished, but not yet Done!
