First Ever Pictolens

This is the Pictolens

I believe this is the first "pic to lens".

These photos are taken by me and are used in my lenses on Squidoo. I came up with the pictolens the day I made Paperfacet's Squidoo Lensography. The idea gave me a chance to get familiar with the picture gallery. I am disappointed we can not HTML the description. Oh well, I came up with another method for picking.

See the pictolens in action. If a picture makes you curious refer to the number under the photo to see the lens. This is a Squidoo lensography with a twist.

Pictures are A Must for My Lenses

The Picture Hunt

pictolens on SquidooWhenever I plan a lens or start building the modules I always go to my camera or my own photos first. If I am planning a subject the first thing I do is take pictures to illustrate it. Then I round out the lens with Google images and related graphs from the web if necessary.

Two lenses of mine have no photos of my own. The John Adams and the Joan Armatrading. It is just not possible for me to get up close to those two people. As my lens list grows I imagine there will be more.

The James Cain has pictures of my book collection.

So the method in this corner is (1) subject, and (2) my pictures. Without the two I would have a slow start on a lens. If maps were something I could make I would put a map in every lens too.

I do not call myself a photographer. I just take pictures with my cheap camera and digital is supreme. My son tells me sarcastically, "Thanks for the memories." I always was loathe to snap with abandon because of the cost at the developer. Now I can crop, fade, and change so the photo is half decent and everyone looks good. I can even toss some away. Who cares picture taking is almost free.

I have to admit there is narcissistic overtones to this lens. No one at home wants to look at my pics and you might not either, but I am having fun with this anyway. I think many of us on Squidoo have our own rivalries that only other Squidoo people can appreciate.

Thanks for looking.

Learning by Using Squidoo.com

There is a lens to show you almost anything you are interested in.

There is a whole heading called "Squidoo Tips" on Squidoo. These lenses can be used for other applications, as well. Lens after lens showing you HTML, Seo optimization, and tricks to dress up your lens modules all for free. I was able to do the modules above with the help of these good "Squidoo Tips" lenses. Try them or look for your own favorites.

Most of These Pictures

Fuji Finepix S1000fd

Most of theses pictures were taken with this camera and it will probably be used for quite a few more years. I started using it in April 2008.

Fujifilm FinePix S1500 10MP Digital Camera with 12x Wide Angle Dual Image Stabilized Optical Zoom

Amazon Price: $159.00 (as of 06/04/2012)Buy Now

Most of the pictures in this lens were taken with a FUJI S1000fd. I spot light it here but by no means do not take this as the best camera out there. In fact I have this camera only because I picked it as my retirement gift from the phone company.

The point I want to make is if you read the instructions you will get some results.

Cameras For a Click and A Little Bid

Buy a camera for pure enjoyment. That is what I use mine for. I have joined flickr and pay for it with my Squidoo lenses. I have used the flickr picnik to play with the pictures and enhance and change them to suit my eye.

Digital is so much fun. I even bought my 87 year old Mom a picture frame so she can enjoy the pictures on her table at home.
