Pizza Capital of the World?

Pictou County has more pizza shops per capita than anywhere in North America. Is that what I heard? Was that really a question on Jeopardy? I don't know for sure, but lots of people are making it and lots of people are eating it. People live on it and people are dieing from it. They eat it three times a day. They eat it for a bed time snack. Pictou County pizza has even been eaten in Calgary and BC, in the US and even in Afghanistan. Only in Pictou County you say?...Pity.

What Makes Pictou County Pizza Different? 

As with all pizza the secret is the blending of flavours that makes it taste so good. But a Pictou County pizza has a few important differences. The "secret" sauce is a family recipe that is more than 35 years old. One of the more popular ingredients is Brothers Pepperoni which made in Halifax and is a world class award winner. The rest of the secret is basically decades of pizza making experience.

So if you happen to be visiting Pictou County be sure to try the pizza. It's the breakfast of champions, brunch, dinner, supper and bed time snack. Any time you're feeling a little empty or you have the munchies then grab a slab. That's what we do everyday.

    I was born and raised in Pictou County and they do have the best pizza in my opinion something about the brown pizza sauce, brothers peperoni, and the mass or mozzarella cheese they pile on it. Since leaving the marinates I haven't had any style of pizza nearly as good.

    I have been making Pictou County Pizza (MacEachern's) here in Calgary. The recipe is a closely guarded secret that goes back over 40 years. There is no tomatoe sauce in the recipe, but there is a little tomatoe paste. The mozzerella cheese also has to have a certain milk fat and humidity content.

    I was given the recipe in the utmost confidence and feel very priviledged to have it. I make it for my family once a week along with KOD donairs. A little taste of home.

The following is a description of how most of the rest of the world sees pizza. Sure the basic ingredients are the same but as we all know you can't get Pictou County pizza outside of Pictou County.
