Surely I've seen picture discs before, but I honestly don't think so. Very cool collectible!

Now I'm wondering whatever happened to my Meatloaf (Bat out of Hell) picture disc. I know exactly where my old black-vinyl LPs are, but it's not with them... hmm...

I would love to find out the value of some of my picture discs! I have 2 in particular... One full record of the Doors (interview) and a set of 4 "45"s of the interviews with each Beatle. Can you help me locate a pricing guide?

I would love to say I am too young to remember .. . ALL of these when they 1st came out, but, that would be a huge lie! I loved my pictures discs I had a bright red LP of ska music and Fun Boy 3. This is a fab and indeed groovy (sorry couldn't resist) lens. Really, enjoyed it. Thank you

Hi! You have a wonderful and informative sight! It's been a great deal of fun looking around. I have a question and I hope you can help me with it. Several years ago I saw 2 picture discs on Ebay. One depicted a single white rose in a dark background. The other, a pink rose in the same setting. Both records were framed in a soft light and were by the same band. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  • rms Aug 14, 2011 @ 9:38 am | delete
Wow. I wish I could help. Sounds like a nice decorator piece. Anyone else know?
  • Bill Aug 14, 2011 @ 11:57 am | delete
Thank you so much for the fast reply! I've been collecting picture discs for about 25 years and look for things that I find attractive or interesting. Animals (not the band), the Beatles, flowers,...just about anything as long as it appeals to me.

  • Mattias Mar 17, 2011 @ 12:40 pm | delete
Hi! Somebody help!! I collect picturediscs but have a problem. many records turn brown over the years.. Is it the light that does this?? Do I need to use uv-safe frames?? Thank you in advance!!
  • rms Mar 17, 2011 @ 5:25 pm | delete
uv safe frames should work. Keep them away from any smokers too!
  • Mattias Mar 23, 2011 @ 1:53 pm | delete
Thanks! :) I will do that..

  • lb1xxxx Jan 29, 2011 @ 12:22 pm | delete
I have a nice collection of picture discs actually. Started a few years ago when I had an 80s birthday party. I have Culture Club, Eurythmics, Heart, Pat Benatar, Wham!, Cher, Lynda Carter's PORTRAIT album, Laura Branigan's Self Control, Madonna, etc. I even have two 7" pic discs. One of Toni Basil's NOBODY and one of Bonnie Tyler's FASTER THAN THE SPEED OF NIGHT. They are sweet. Does anyone know if they sell round pic disc frames? That would be perfect. I guess I would have to get the regular size ones then.
  • Carmel_Aaron Jan 8, 2011 @ 10:09 am | delete
I never knew anything about picture Disc's until I read this lens. Evidently I am behind the times, but that isn't unusual.
I do have some recond albumbs, like soundtracks of favorite musicals, and some Barry Manilow and Elvis Presley, but I no longer have a turntable, so I am just collecting them. Of course they have been played a lot-so they are not in perfect condition.
    Thank you

I love pic discs, if i wanted a record when i first started buying vinyl back in the 80's i would get it on pic disc if possible, or colour vinyl. sadly i don't have many left now, perhaps just a handful.I have just got back into collecting vinyl, perhaps i may get back some of what i had. nice lens. if you like any kind of vinyl check my site www.collector45rpm.com

I have a question about picture disks. My house burned down 2 weeks ago and I'd been given 4 Disney Picture disks last year - never even opened. I have to figure out their value for my insurance. Any idea how I can find out what they'd have been worth?

Sure can! A picture disc is a 33 rpm record album that has a picture (usually of the group whose music is on the album) embedded into the vinyl.
