Having Fun with pictures.

I've been thinking about ways in which to add 'fun' to a Lens, and after reading the exceptional Lenses about HTML, CSS etc, I wondered if there was any way, aside from my 'Clearspring' Lens, in which I could actually add something fun to a Lens. "Eureka: I cried - what about pictures - everyone uploads pictures - let's have some fun with them!

For most of the Lens I'm gonna use the picture from my introduction - sure, it is scary - but heck, you don't have to look at it in the mirror every day!

Best 'snazzy' photo competition.

Give these methods a try and enter into the 'snazzy' photo contest. Your prize? Hmmm, I'll write a poem dedicated to the winner - that's gotta be worth millions eh!

Competition Ends on June 30th, 2009.

Befunky

There are some decent programs such as Photoshop etc that allow you to manipulate photographs, but we can't all afford those! So I searched the web for a free alternative. This is the site I found, and the one I will be using on this Lens (Note - it is free and requires no registration) :
Befunky
BeFunky makes it easy to get photos from your favorite web sites. Apply special photo effects and save back to your account.

Let's get started

Step 1: Go to Befunky.com and click the 'Get started now' button.

Step 2: Select an application - at this time it doesn't really matter which application you select, as you can change the application as you go. I selected Cartoonizer

Step 3: Select the method for uploading a photo - you can chose from 'Upload from computer', 'Upload via Webcam', 'Upload from URL' or 'Upload from Photo Sharing Site' - I used the webcam method to take an instant picture.

Step 4: crop or rotate the picture if required and click OK - alternatively click 'Skip Editing' - I clicked 'Skip Editing'

Step 5: based on the application you chose intially, the system will now 'funkify' your photo - if you are happy then skip to Step XXXX - in my case I wanted to continue and change the results.

Step 6: using the icons on the left and top - I clicked the 'Line Artopia' icon in hte vertical menui and the 'second from left' icon in the 'Outline your life' horizontal menu.

Step 7: at the bottom, click on Goodies to add fun things such as borders, text etc..

Step 8: Click on Share or Save - share will send an email with the picture, Save will allow you to save to a local folder.

The final Picture

This is a fun and cool site that can produce some excellent results. I only tried it with a face, but you could use this site for any picture.

Photoshop

While this site is fun, it is limited. If you really want to have fun with photos I'd suggest purchasing a decent photo editing program - Photoshop is a good package for beginners.
