Looking to Nevis from St. Kitts
at Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park
This is a beautiful view across The Narrows to of the island of Nevis, as seen through an ancient archway on the island of Saint Kitts. The archway is part of Brimstonehill Fortress, generally considered to be one of the pest preserved fortresses in the Caribbean, and perhaps in the western hemisphere. This photo really is special, don't you think?

Where is St. Kitts and Nevis?
The two island nation is south-southeast of Sint Maarten and northwest of Montserrat.
Tourism is a great part of the economy, and cruise ships sailing on Southern Caribbean itineraries dock at Basseterre, the capital of Saint Kitt.

Climate in St. Kitts and Nevis
Weather in St. Kitts Right Now
TEMPERATURE: Temperatures average between 78 and 88 (F) year round, but can get as high as 95, and as low as 65.
SEASONS: Rainy Season - May through October; Most Active part of Hurricane Season - August through October; Dry Season - November through April; Tourist Season corresponds roughly with the dry season. (It still rains during dry season, just not as much!)
TRADE WINDS help to make it pleasant, even on 90+ degree days.
Towards the center of each island, are the mountains, so the farther away from the coast you go, the higher the elevation. At higher elevations, the temperature will be cooler and rainfall heavier.
Most of the population is near the shore, on the coastal plains.
The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis became a sovereign state in 1983.
Independence Day is celebrated each year on September 19, the date full independence was achieved.
