Tuscany is a Magical Place
Imagine walking through rolling hills, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. Birds are singing and the roads are lined with cypress trees. Suddenly you are surprised to come across grazing cows, or a fawn, or a boar family.
Sounds like a dream, doesn't it? Well, this is exactly what I remember from my trip to Tuscany.
We hiked between quaint, medieval Tuscan towns, like San Gimignano, Montepulciano, and Volterra. Rome and Florence were great, but I'll take the Tuscan countryside anytime.
If you have fond memories of Tuscany or dream of going there sometime, maybe you would like to decorate your home with beautiful pictures of Tuscany and Tuscan decor. Here, you will find my own images of Tuscany, including posters of doors and windows, as well as other cool Tuscan art.

What makes Tuscany such an attractive destination?
Tuscany is known for its landscape, history, culture, food, and wine.
With Florence as its center, it also comprises the historic towns of Siena, Pienza, San Gimignano, Volterra, and Pisa. Tuscany's rolling hills make up two-thirds of its total area. It is the birthplace of the Renaissance, implying a certain elegance combined with rustic charm. When we think of Tuscany, we think of olives and grapes, earth tones, soft light, wine, and romance.

A Closer View of Tuscany
Siena was settled by the Etruscans (900 to 400 b.c.), who were advanced in their ways of using irrigation for farming. The city is famous for its Palio horse race, held each year in the huge Piazza del Campo.
Florence is located on the Arno River and is the capital of Tuscany. It is known for its art and architecture, birthed during the Renaissance.
Montepulciano is another Etruscan hill town with amazing wine and food. Its Vino Nobile wine is considered one of the best in Italy and derives from the sangiovese grape.

In 2007, my husband and I were fortunate enough to do a hiking and wine tour through the towns of Montepulciano, San Gimignano, Siena, and Volterra in Tuscany. We actually walked a good part of the way between these towns and so were able to experience the countryside on foot. As you will see below I was very struck by the beautiful and unique windows and doors I encountered.
Here are a few of the images from that trip and they are available for purchase through my IMAGEKIND GALLERY. On Imagekind, you can order custom-sized posters or prints. Matting and framing or printing on canvas are also options.

Leaning Tower of Pisa on Zazzle
The leaning tower of Pisa is one of, if not the, most recognizable site in Tuscany. According to Wikipedia, this bell tower was built in 1173 and started leaning shortly after due to a poorly laid foundation. It is amazing that a building such as this is most famous for its flaws. Find out more about this building at Wikipedia.

- Tuscany is one of my dream trips (yet to happen). I'd like to visit for my birthday this year. It would be wonderful to experience this lovely region on foot (or perhaps on a bike trip). I love your Tuscan art. You have a true inner eye for seeing the essence of the landscape, the culture, and the spirit of a place. Enjoyed absorbing this essence.

Take a Hiking and Wine Tour of Tuscany
La Dolce Vita Wine Tours offers small group hiking and wine tours in Italy, Spain, and Portugal. We have done two trips with them, the first one being through Tuscany and the second the Italian Alps. I would highly recommend this company, run by a husband and wife team.
