  • EagleScoutMom Nov 30, 2011 @ 1:26 am | delete
Wow! I really learned something from your great lens! I'm not much of a pie baker - only pumpkin pies. I received a pie set with the bird several years ago. I had no idea what the bird was for and I recently threw it away because it just sat in my drawer for years! Wish I had known! I have the Winter Berry Dishes and am going to buy that pie plate and Cardinal to go with my set - now that I know what to do with the bird! Thanks!

Sue, I'm not sure what happened to your second message. I did receive it but it did not appear here. Your cabinet sounds lovely.
  • Sue Apr 29, 2010 @ 6:33 pm | delete
I collect black blackbird pie birds, I have heard that if you collect the black blackbirds pie birds you are called a purist. I have 24 blackbirds to go with the nursery rhyme 4 & 20 blackbirds baked in a pie. I have never baked a pie using a pie bird. It might be time for me to try it.
  • Treasures-By-Brenda Apr 30, 2010 @ 6:08 am | delete
That's neat, Sue. How do you display your blackbirds?
  • Sue Apr 30, 2010 @ 8:28 am | delete
Hi Brenda, I have a white hanging curio cabinet with 3 shelves & glass front with a door. It's in my kitchen. The blackbirds in the white cabinet look really nice. I bought the curio cabinet from a company called Touch Of Class for $139.00 Thanks for asking.

You've probably heard about my lemon meringue pie adventures on my lemon cupcake page. I don't seem to have the same difficulty with my chicken pot pie recipe so if you want to give me your pie bird, Cheryl, I'd be happy to make you a pie...you'd just have to drive for 10 hours to have a piece!

By the way, is your pie bird a bird and can you send me a digital photo of it?
  • greenstarbuilders Sep 9, 2009 @ 6:31 pm | delete
That is a unique gift- nice job on this lens. Interesting.
  • Cheryl Sep 9, 2009 @ 4:49 pm | delete
Pie vents are so cool, and I just happen to have one. Now all I need is someone to bake the pie. Hint!
