Cleaning up the world, one piece of litter at a time!
That's what the Piece-a-Day Anti-Litter Revolution is all about!
Don't have time to save the world? Neither do I. But I figured I would be very lazy indeed if I couldn't bend over to pick up at least one piece of litter every day! Then I realized that, if I could get friends and family to do the same thing, there would be a lot of litter being picked up in my little corner of the world. Then it occurred to me to ask them to ask their friends and families to do the same, and a whole bunch of litter would disappear from the streets, roadsides, forests, campgrounds, playgrounds, schoolyards, and parking lots.
And, seriously, don't think you have to pick up more than one "piece a day". Don't get me wrong, you can if you want to, but don't feel obligated. That's the beauty of the revolution. It doesn't have to be hard - we just need a lot of people doing it.
Oh, and to be clear, there are two rules:
1. If you dropped it and pick it up, that doesn't count.
2. If it's in your own yard or on your own doorstep, that doesn't count.
You are already responsible for those! What we need to do is get more people picking up litter than there are throwing down. It's that simple. Will you join us?
My Piece-a-Day Litter Today
Seems silly, but I'm going to list what I picked up every day just for fun!
I've picked up very simple things, like gum wrappers, cigarette butts, soda cups, napkins, discarded mail, letter paper, bottle tops, broken toys, cans, plastic bottles, fast food bags, lighters, etc.
I've also picked up some more daunting items, such as diapers, wet fast food bags, food in wrappers, used condoms, and similar disgusting things! To be sure, I will only tackle something like that when the circumstances are just right. I think it is important to pick up different types of litter, and not always be afraid of the tough stuff.
Today, I picked up a piece of pink plastic that used to be part of a drinking cup.
What was your piece today?
Tell us what piece of litter you picked up today!

- I often take a bag with me when I go for a walk. It's not much but together we can make the world a better place to live.
Thanks for sharing

- Okay, in the last three days, I picked up a Butterfinger wrapper, a Pabst Blue Ribbon can, and a large piece of black solid plastic which I think may have been part of a car bumper.
