- Take a class. If you are just getting started you might want to consider taking a class. Then, you can do the routines at home once you get the hang of it.Make sure the instructor has excellent credentials and is certified in Pilates.
- Learn from a DVD. You can also learn Pilates from a DVD. Choose a Pilates workout system that fits your experience level.
- Remember to breathe. Pilates is more than just the movements. It's about your breathing to. Remember to breathe properly so you can get the best results possible.

Why I Love Pilates Exercise
- Tone your core. For me, it's hard to get really defined abs. When I do Pilates I notice a huge difference.
- Builds muscle all over. It doesn't just build muscle and strength in the core. It does it all over!
- Aids weight loss. Though Pilates workouts don't burn a lot of calories, they do help build muscle which helps encourage long term weight loss.
- Adds flexibility. Flexibility is what helps encourage mobility, especially as we age. After a Pilates workout I notice that my back in particular is nice and flexible and the tense spots are greatly reduced.
