They're a good stiff pillow and handy for adding some support to a pile of pillows (older people). . .don't know how the kids relate to them, but they seem to. - Although the furry animal pillows are soft to touch, their furs adds to the heat. This will make little kids sweaty during their sleep. Nevertheless, if you are in a cold country, these pillow pets can help to keep the kids warm.
- In the TV commercial, it was advertised that the pillow pets are machine washable but the tags actually says ""surface washable". It is advisable to wash on gentle cycle, use a washing bag if possible, and do not use dryer.
- Pillow pets are not suitable for newborn babies. Though there is a cover for the velcro, if parents do not handle properly, the uncovered velcro may be potential threats to very young children.
- This is just a cuddly toy that is absolutely adorable for kids, they do not really offer educational value for play. Nevertheless, you can always tell them stories and teach your children about the animals.
- With the aggressive TV commercials, your kids may want to start collecting all the pillow pets available. And there are more than 30 of them!
Pillow Pets Vs. Cuddlee Pet Pillow
Quality vs. price
With the success of My Pillow Pets, there are now many imitators in the market, offering furry pillow animals. One such line of product I have come across is the Cuddlee Pet Pillow. The picture on the left is the authentic pillow toy panda from My Pillow Pets
From the pictures, they do not look very much different. Like Pillow Pets, toy animal pillows from Cudlee are cute and furry. And they are only selling at a fraction of the price of authetic Pillow Pets (less than $10)!
However, most consumers who have bought them rated them lowly. Although the manufacturer stated the size is 15 inches, many complained that the size of Cuddlee Pet Pillow is very much smaller compared to the authentic pillow pets and the quality is very poor too. Someone even commented that the product is "like the cheap toys you get at a carnival. Under stuffed with seams coming apart."
Here's my personal 2 cents, if you genuinely want a quality Pillow Pet, do not be lured by the price trap. Be a smart consumer, you get what you pay for.
Hard to Find Pillow Pets?
Buyers Beware!
Despite my 2 cents above on qualtiy vs. price, I think it is crazy to pay over a hundred for a kid's pillow. Please consider other pillow pet animal designs to avoid being taken advantage of by greedy profiteers. If you (or your kid) really want a particular pet badly, my suggestion is to be patient and wait it out. Let the economics of demand and supply do the work. Usually, the price will revert to normal after a while.
