These pillows are reminiscent of the days when life was so much simpler, when women worked needle and thread to make their own home goods, and when family spent considerable time together whether it be for work or play.

Country style pillows are often done in needlepoint and contain elements of nature including birds, flower, and animals. Because of the additional thread used in needlepoint, these pillows are generally long-lasting and provide firm support. The patterns are calming and the colors are often muted and soft and work very well with wood trimmed furniture.

While doing some research with my mother regarding our family tree, we came across some poems and songs written by an ancestor in New England. The wording, the writing, even the emotions evoked by the messages were certainly Victorian in nature.

Some of us, myself included, feel a connection over time to years gone by - periods and eras we did not even experience but we've read about or seen depicted in art and pictures. The romance of the Victorian era draws us in and we wish, not forever but for a brief moment, to have been there to witness the grandeur and passion of the past.

Ahhh...my personal favorites. I love bright, joyful colors, swirls, and geometric patterns on today's contemporary pillows for the home. In fact, I've been trying to get my husband to go for a change of color in our bedroom for some time now. Not panning out for me yet and it just might have to do with a lime green and yellow phase I went through when I surprised him with my last paint job in the bedroom. But - really - if I took just one of these pillows and built the theme of my room around it, I think it would be perfection!

One design studio has established a following for some of the most well-crafted, unique designs for home throw pillows. Many designers submit their ideas to this studio but only the best are selected. The studio limits production of any one design to ensure that the piece you order is one of only a limited number - in the tens!

These pillows come at a hefty price. In fact, they're by far the most expensive throw pillows I've ever seen. But, hey, I walk through Tiffany's jewelry store, too, just to take a peek so I had to show you a few of these throw pillow collectibles.

We don't always need the glitz and glam of shiny, adorned pillows to make a statement. Sometimes, the simplest pillows - maybe with a little ruching or a barely-there pattern - will do the trick all on their own. When you're home already has a lot of busy detail, try some pillows in plain fabrics and high-quality fabrics to calm down a room.
