Pimp My Mighty Boy

The objective is to take a stock standard Mighty Boy and improve upon its look and performance, a la Pimp My Ride.

The project is being done in conjunction with The Shoot Out, the 24 hour filmmaking competition that started in Newcastle and is coming up to its ninth consecutive year.

Every year in addition to the 100 teams that compete for prizes by shooting a 7 minute film in 24 hours they have a 'challenge'. In the past it's been things like writing and recording a song in 24 hours, shooting a film on film in 24 hours... this year we have been given the opportunity to Pimp Our Ride.

Can it be done?

Find out here.

Before Shots

Then we drove it to Newcastle Auto Dismantlers. I've got a good feeling about them. After all, if they can Pimp A Dog (see next lot of photos), I think they can do a little Mighty Boy.

Pimp My Dog

This is Samui. She is a chocolate coloured border collie belonging to John, the owner of Newcastle Auto Dismantlers.

She ruptured a disc in her spine. The experts can't figure out how or why. It just happened.

For most dogs that's the end of the line losing the use of both hind legs but not for Samui.

With treatment and the love and ingeniuty of her owners, John constructed this custom made harness wheel attachment keeping her mobile and still enjoying chasing her ball. As well as doing circle work.

Ripping the heart out of the little beast

A half litre engine is not a lot of power. Trust me on that.

What should we name the car?

We've narrowed the possible names to two. Given the fact that the event is called "The Shoot Out" and in reference to the word "location scout" we've got two front runners: The Shoot Scout and The Scout Out.

I wonder what it would cost to have one of those imported to the states? I love little cars and have always been a fan of all of the "minitrucks" Ford Ranger, Chevy LUV, and the Holden Ute has had my eye for years, now you show me this! sigh...

And I think my Subaru Baja is a small truck. Wow the mighty is tiny. Good luck on your project.
