What is the Pimsleur Method All About and Will it Work for Me?

The Pimsleur language learning system is a language learning method developed by Paul Pimsleur. Dr. Pimsleur passed some time ago, but his method has grown increasinly popular in the last decade.

The Pimsleur method is an audio-based system, which requires the student to constructs phrases or repeat phrases and words from memory ask guided by the recording. Today, the publishing company Simon & Schuster is producing an increasing number of comprehensive levels for a variety of languages.

The student listens to native speakers speak phrases in both the foreign language and the language used for teaching.

At varying intervals in the lesson, the student is prompted to repeat a word or phrase after the speaker finishes pronouncing it. The student is then introduced to a new phrase. Phrases that were learned previously are introduced at random throughout the course.
