Holiday Pineapple Cheese Ball Recipe
Pineapple Cream Cheese Ball is an especially festive version of the classic cheese ball rolled in pecans. This is my family's favorite Holiday appetizer. In fact it is one they enjoy year round and request most often.
I discovered this recipe many years ago while visiting with distant family during the Thanksgiving Season. I found it lighter than the traditional cheddar cheese ball. The canned pineapple lends a little extra flavor and sweetness that contrasts nicely.
Adding various colored sweet peppers give the cheese ball more color.
This Pineapple Cream Cheese Ball is easy to make from 6 readily available ingredients. Like most dishes it tastes best if refrigerated over night to let the flavors really blend in as it rests.
If you don't already have this recipe, I'm sure that it will become one of your favorites.
So let's get started. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Kitchen Items You Will Need
It is a good idea to assemble the kitchen items and gadgets you will need before you start to mix the ingredients.
This Cheese Ball Recipe is very easy to make and requires just a few things you probably already have in your kitchen.
Here are a few that I found useful on Amazon.com.
Ingredients You Will Need To Make This Delicious Cream Cheese Ball

The process will go quickly and smoothly if you assemble all the necessary ingredients before you get started. It is very disappointing to discover in the middle of preparing a recipe that you are missing one or more items.

Party Pineapple Cheese Ball Recipe
- 2 packages (8 ounce each) cream cheese
- 1 can (8 ½ ounce) crushed pineapple drained
- 2 cups pecans chopped fine (1 cup in cheese mixture and one cup to roll on outside)
- ¼ cup sweet peppers (green bell peppers are fine but red or other colors are nice too)
- 2 TBS onion chopped very fine
- Let the cream cheese sit out an hour or so before mixing. It will be much easier to get a smooth mixture if the cream cheese is softened a bit.
- Drain pineapple until as much liquid is removed as possible.
- Put the cream cheese in the mixing bowl.
- Add the pineapple to the cream cheese.
- Chop bell pepper and onion by hand - do NOT use food processor or chopper as these will make too much liquid.
- Add one cup pecans and chopped peppers and onion to cream cheese mixture.
- Stir until all the ingredients are evenly mixed with the cream cheese.
- If the mixture is too soft and messy to handle. Refrigerate the cheese mixture so that it thickens up. Its fine to chill the cream cheese mixture overnight and work with it after its fully chilled.
- Form the mixture into one or two balls. This cheese ball recipe serves approximately
25 people. I prefer to make two cheese balls and have two dishes ready for
parties or visitors. - Either way (on the spot or after chilling) roll the ball or balls in the chopped pecans. Wet your hands with water and the mixture will be easier to handle.
- Chill the cheese ball or balls until ready to serve.
- Top the pineapple cheese ball with a slice of pineapple and a maraschino cherry in the center for an extra special display. If adding the pineapple slice and cherry, do that right before serving.
- Serve the cheese ball on a decorative holiday cheese dish or cheese tray with assorted crackers.

A Handy Can Strainer / Drainer
This is a very handy kitchen gadget. It will save your fingers from being cut by the jagged edges of the can. It also keeps you from being splattered by pinapple juice or tuna oil for that matter.

I am not one for buying kitchen gadgets but this is one I simply love.
It ranks at the top along with my vegetable peeler and egg slicer.

As we move into Fall there are so many festive occasions ahead. This is a quick and easy cheese ball to make and keep on hand for guests as well as your own family enjoyment.
Of all the appetizers and snacks we have made over the years, this is the one that has survived the test of time. We like it right out of the bowl. It rarely becomes a ball rolled in nuts.
