Why Are Some Diamonds Pink?

There are two reasons a diamond will be pink. One natural and one artificial. Natural pink diamonds are relatively rare and this tends to be reflected in the price. Their pink colouring comes from changes in the structure of the diamond during it's formation which can cause the diamond to turn anything from a delicate rose to pink to a deep intense almost red pink and every shade in between. It is now also possible to change the colour of a diamond using irradition or high pressure-high temperature treatment. Treated diamonds are usually considerably cheaper than natural.
