Pink Biography

Alecia Beth Moore (born September 8, 1979), better known by her stage name Pink (often stylized as P!nk), is an American singer and songwriter who rose to fame in 2000 as an R&B singer, but then switched to rock and pop rock.

She released her first single "There You Go" and first album, the R&B-oriented Cant Take Me Home, in 2000 via LaFace Records, which garnered commercial success. Her more pop rock-oriented second studio album, Missundaztood, which began a marked shift in the sound of her music, was released in 2001, and was very successful worldwide, and is, currently, her best seller.

Pink released her third album, Try This, in November 2003, and her fourth in April 2006, I'm Not Dead. The latter generated seven hit singles, including "Stupid Girls", "U + Ur Hand" and "Who Knew". Her fifth album, Funhouse, was released in late October 2008 and was preceded by her first solo number...

So What Lyrics - by Pink The Singer

The new top song on the album Funhouse

I guess i just lost my husband
I don't know where he went
So i'm gonna drink my money
I'm not gonna pay his rent (Nope)
I got a brand new attitude
And i'm gonna wear it tonight
I wanna get in trouble
I wanna start a fight

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
I wanna start a fight
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
I wanna start a fight

So so what?
I'm still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don't need you
And guess what
I'm having more fun
And now that we're done
I'm gonna show you tonight
I'm alright, I'm just fine
And you're a tool
So so what?
I am a rockstar
I got my rock moves
And i don't want you tonight

Uh, check my flow, uh

The waiter just took my table
And gave to Jessica Simp- Shit!
I guess i'll go sit with drum boy
At least he'll know how to hit
What if this song's on the radio
Then somebody's gonna die
I'm gonna get in trouble
My ex will start a fight

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
He's gonna start a fight
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
We're all gonna get in a fight!

So so what?
I'm still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don't need you
And guess what
I'm having more fun
And now that we're done
I'm gonna show you tonight
I'm alright, I'm just fine
And you're a tool
So so what?
I am a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don't want you tonight

You weren't there
You never were
You weren't all
But thats not fair
I gave you life
I gave my all
You weren't there
You let me fall

So so what?
I'm still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don't need you
And guess what
I'm having more fun
And now that we're done (we're done)
I'm gonna show you tonight
I'm alright(I'm alright),I'm just fine (I'm just fine)
And you're a tool
So so what?
I am a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don't want you tonight

No No, No No
I Don't want you tonight
You weren't there
I'm gonna show you tonight
I'm alright, I'm just fine
And you're a tool
So so what?
I am a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don't want you tonight

Pink Lyrics

Dear Mr. President Lyrics

"Dear Mr. President"
Pink - feat. Indigo Girls

Dear Mr. President,
Come take a walk with me.
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me.
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly.

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What do you feel when you look in the mirror?
Are you proud?

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why?

Dear Mr. President,
Were you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
How can you say
No child is left behind?
We're not dumb and we're not blind.
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell.

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine.

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye?

Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President,
You'd never take a walk with me.
Would you?

I'm Not Dead - Pink

Some music is celebrated for its elegant subtlety; Pink's slams you over the head. Four albums in, she's not changing her formula. I'm Not Dead touches on bulimia ("Stupid Girls"), war-mongering politicians ("Dear Mr. President"), teen angst ("Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self," "Runaway"), overheated pickup artists ("U + Ur Hand"), and gross materialism ("I Got Money Now"). None of it, in other words, is for featherweight listeners. Then again, none of it suits eggheaded college tastemakers either. Where this translates, then, is with those willing to man up and embrace what makes Pink Pink: her spellbinding ability to render rebelliousness in all the many colors of the rainbow. Neil Young-inspired acoustic guitar is sketched into "The One That Got Away," but it's just as quickly scribbled over by Joan Jett-style ranting (on "Long Way to Happy") and Janis Joplin/Joss Stone-fueled howling (on "Who Knew"). Even R&B gets its turn ("I Got Money Now"). The album also includes appearances from the Indigo Girls, who duet on "Dear Mr. President," and Pink's father, who joins for the hidden track "I Have Seen The Rain." Pink pulls all of this off, and probably without even breathing hard. She's not dead. --Tammy La Gorce

Alecia Moore, where have you been? We took you home in 2000 with "Can't Take me Home", we totally understood you when you were "M!ssundaztood" in 2001, we tried "Try This" in 2003 - and then you left us without even a note.
Now that we know that you're okay, we want to say thank goodness you're okay, congratulations on your marriage, and thanks for this great new album.
Lead off single and first track "Stupid Girls" is a scathing commentary on the extra-skinny (and bulimic) popular girls (and celebrities) who would do anything to extend their 15 minutes of fame, while second track "Who Knew" immediately takes down the pace, Pink style, about lost love.

"I wish I could touch you again
I wish I could still call you a friend
I'd give anything"

Third track "Long Way to Happy" is another song about break-ups and recovery, and very emotionally done. Another sad song follows with "Nobody Knows", and then she controversially takes on George W. Bush with her open letter about poverty and homelessness.
Other can't-miss tracks are the title track, and the up tempo and often naughty tracks that follow it, such as "Cuz I Can"; my favorite (albeit expletive ridden) "Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely)" and second single "U & Ur Hand" which would stop a pick-up artist dead in his tracks. Listen up also for the hidden track with her Dad, which he wrote, according to Pink, back in Vietnam about 40 years ago, and was the first song she ever performed.
The UK album has two extra tracks "Fingers" and "Centerfold", two songs that make it worthwhile getting the UK version of this album.
The songs on this album more than prove that Pink's not dead, but still ready to tell it like it is. -- Amanda Richards "Modest to the extreme" (Georgetown, Guyana)

Missundaztood - Pink

There's a rule in commercial pop: don't bite the hand that feeds you. Translation? If you're getting love on TRL, it's best leaving well enough alone and tinkering only slightly with the sound that pays your bills. So you have to give Pink a whole heap of credit. The Philly-raised songbird may have made her rep with infectious and rugged pop-R&B hits like "There You Go" and the remake of "Lady Marmalade," but like the fuchsia coif she once sported, that sound is gone. In its place is a more driving alt-rock attack, liberally laced with some late-night blues and heartfelt lyrics that, while they sometimes come off like diary entries (the simplistic bon mot "Your pain is painful" in "Family Portrait"), are clearly Pink's thoughts, as opposed to words someone put in her mouth. Helping Pink express her inner Alanis are Dallas Austin, who produced the insistent rocker "18 Wheeler," and former 4 Non Blonde Linda Perry, who Pink has resurrected from one-hit-wonder status. Mixing up thumping beats, ("Get the Party Started"), with folksy confessionals, Pink's potent vocals and her honest determination make this a risk worth hearing. --Amy Linden

I've liked Pink since I first saw her in that terrific video with the motorcycle, and I think she's quite a talent.
Her performances always capture my attention, she has a growing gift for songwriting, a unique singing style, and I just love that little wobble in her voice.

This CD has its ups and downs...I can live without the first 3 tracks, but it also has some exceptional ones.
With "Get the Party Started" and "Respect", Pink is at her brassy-sassy best, and "Misery", a duet with Steven Tyler, is a down home bluesy number that really works well.

The gems on this CD to my ears are "Family Portrait" (writen by Pink and Scott Storch), which is a really moving piece that I don't think could be sung better by anybody, I like "Eventually" (written by Pink and Linda Perry) more with each hearing (nice lyrics), and "Gone to California" (Pink and Perry again) is great. Her phrasing on this song is superb, and there's the added bonus of a jazzy A-1 sax solo by Jimmy Z, and David Siegel on organ adds a lot to it too.

These three songs are some of the slower ones on this CD, and show a lot of artistry. Out of the current crop of young singers, I wouldn't be surprised if Pink is the one we'll be listening to 10 years from now. -- Alejandra Vernon "artist & illustrator" (Long Beach, California)

Can't Take Me Home - Pink

The contrivance level is high on this debut by an R&B singer named for her out-of-bottle hair color. La Face Records' latest female discovery is positioned midway between mainstream hip-hop soul and poor imitations of Kelis-style anger. Producer-writer She'kspere brings out his trademark machine beats for "There You Go," a pale copy of "You Oughta Know"; still, that single's more artful than "Split Personality," which clumsily attempts to acknowledge three-dimensional human reality but really sounds like a fit of whining until Pink unleashes the inevitable melisma over the song's coda. Elsewhere, she makes nice on standard-issue ballads ("Stop Falling") and lite-reggae proclamations of love ("Private Show"). "I just wanna make you feel things," Pink sings at one point. Unfortunately, the emotion the cynical Can't Take Me Home inspires most is annoyance. --Rickey Wright

Can't Take Me Home

2. Hell Wit Ya
3. Most Girls
4. There You Go
5. You Make Me Sick
6. Let Me Let You Know
7. Love Is Such A Crazy Thing
8. Private Show
9. Can't Take Me Home
10. Stop Falling
11. Do What U Do
12. Hiccup
13. Is It Love

Okay, well, maybe this album wouldn't appeal to all people. But, if you're a fan of up tempo r&b and Timberland-style beats, you'll love this CD. There are only two slow songs, which is really rare for and r&b/soul singer. Pink has a terrific voice and I commend her for her honesty in her songs. Yes, she actually does write her own material! Here are the tracks:
1.SPLIT PERSONALITY: A very strong opening. The chorus is so cool and different and Pink's "split personality" mouthing off in the background is hilarious.
2.HELL WIT YA: A more typical r&b song, but, it is higlighted by Pink's wonderful lyrics (she says wench! ) and her terrific delivery of them. Her delivery on this whole album is mucho bueno.
3.MOST GIRLS: This song benefits from over the top production (there are opera singers) and the strength of the melody. It's very, very cool. One of the better tracks.
4.THERE YOU GO: Of course, if you've heard this song, you know about the singing/rap aspect of it and hopefully, you love it. However, if you don't like this song don't buy the album cause it's just like all the other songs practically.
5.YOU MAKE ME SICK: This song has a really cool chorus with really cool lyrics. The verses are kinda weird and pretty fast.
6.LET ME LET YOU KNOW: Another outstanding song. The first ballad on the album, you will fall in love with this song after repeat listens, guaranteed.
7.LOVE IS SUCH A CRAZY THING: This song would not be half as good if it didn't have the awesome piano opening and the really crazy beats. It's kinda a weird song.
8.PRIVATE SHOW: A standard Destiny's Child/TLC uptempo song. It has cool lyrics though.
9.CAN'T TAKE ME HOME: This is a completely awesome song! It's probably my favorite. It has the fastest, angriest beats ever. She scares me on this one.
10.STOP FALLING: the second and last ballad, and also the slowest. The first time I listened to this one I didn't like it at all. But, after repeat listens I fell in love with it. It is such a sad, good song. And so suddle too.
11.DO WHAT U DO: Kinda reminds me of Vitamin C! It's a very good, kinda campy, self empowerment song. It's pretty good though.
12.HICCUP: This is a really cool song. In the chorus it sounds like she's hiccuping which gives the song a really cool affect. Very addicting chorus.
13.IS IT LOVE: This is a nice, suddle, mid-tempo song. It's got a real cool beat that reminds me of Dr. Dre for some reason. It's a good ending song.

Try This - Pink

While detractors may grouse that Pink's third album doesn't have a dance floor anthem on it like the incendiary "Get The Party Started" from 2001's Missundaztood, some prefer their Pink straight up and damn the paper drink umbrellas and crepe paper. She's at her very best raiding her own troubled autobiography for inspiration, spitting out vituperrious vocal epitaphs like seeds from a ripe watermelon instead of the angst-ridden confessional romp she took through Missundaztood. Maybe she's worked all that out on a psychiatrist's couch, because this time out her anger is much more arch and entertaining; likely due to her pairing with Rancid's Tim Armstrong, who co-wrote and produced most of the disc and certainly knows the value of turning rage into a well-crafted musical punch line. As unlikely as the collaboration looked on paper, it works perfectly because the Pennsylvania native has always brandished a punk sneer beneath the corsets, gaudy hair color, and naughty girl demeanor. Armstrong and his Rancid cohorts (Lars Frederiksen and Matt Freeman) inject feral rock action into the disc with their truncated guitar sounds and trash can drumming and provide a perfect foil for Pink's foul-mouth rants and backstage laments like "Last To Know." But Pink hasn't shaved her spiky coiffure into a Mohawk. She still smolders on a soulful ballad like "Catch Me While I'm Sleeping" or trades vitriol with raps' redoubtable sex kitten, Peaches. --Jaan Uhelszki

9. Try Too Hard
10. Humble Neighborhoods
11. Walk Away

14. Hooker (hidden track)

Pink gets back to her "in your face" roots with Try This. While I didn't love all the songs on this disc, I loved the style in which she delivered them - Raw and No Holds Barred. She has Janis Joplin quality in this record, not being afraid to rasp words and phrases; curse and be blunt. If you are looking for dancy and more mild material like "Mizunderstoodz", look elsewhere.

The track that really did it for me was "God Is A DJ". I listend to this song for an hour straight and still wasn't tired of it. Superb lyrics, great chord structure and progressions; and pleasing background vocals made this the STAR on the disc. I also enjoyed: Last To Know, Waiting For Love, Trying To Hard, Humble Neighborhoods and, of course, Trouble.

I was pleasantly surprised by this disc. Raw, yet charming :) -- Mr. Stanley M. Schmidt "boymitch" (Rockford, IL)
