Why Choose Pink and Brown Wedding Colors?
So you picked out a spouse, a wedding date, a wedding location and a reception hall. The next step in planning your wedding is to choose your wedding colors.
By choosing your wedding colors before planning any other detail, you can use your color scheme to guide you through the process. The search for your flowers, your cake pattern, your bridesmaid dresses, your party favors, your linens, and your wedding decor will be much easier once you narrow down items based on color.
A pink and brown color scheme is both masculine and feminine in nature. You don't have to overload the wedding environment with pink, yet you can still get that femine touch while pairing it with a more neutral, masculine chocolate brown. Accent colors such as gold, bronze, cream or ivory are great when used in moderation. A few gold candles, a bronze cake serving set and ivory cocktail napkins can really compliment the overall look of the wedding and reception.
The Benefits of Pink and Brown
Examples and Tips for Planning Your Wedding
Searching for those perfect bridesmaid dresses is a much less daunting task if you are only searching for dresses that come in specific colors, such as pink or brown. Ask an employee of the bridal shop to show you fabric swatches, and then ask her to only show you dresses that come in the fabrics that you have selected. It is also much more efficient to start planning the decor for your reception once you have chosen your pink or brown table linens, your pink or brown napkins, and your lovely pink flowers.
Decorating the guest tables at my reception was a breeze once I selected my colors of pink and brown. I also selected ivory, bronze and gold as accent colors. My guest tables had chocolate brown table cloths, pink napkins, pink rose petals scattared down the middle, 6 ivory votive candles on each table decorated with pink and brown ribbons, and finally, pink candles set inside glass ivy bowls filled with whole coffee beans. As you can see in the picture posted, pink and brown can look both very elegant, yet very modern together.
Here is a list of ideas and tips for your pink and brown wedding:
*Pink, brown, and ivory paper lanterns hung individually over the dance floor or on a string across your head table adds a delightful ambiance to your wedding reception
* You can get personalized paper cocktail napkins in almost any color and ink combination. I bought my pink cocktail napkins, personalized with our names in gold ink, at www.theknotshop.com. They were very reliable. Also, watch for sales - I got mine at $19.99 for 100 napkins.
* Chocolate brown bridesmaid dresses are very elegant, and they are a more neutral color that your girls are more likely to wear again. They also look great when paired with the groomsmen who can wear black suits with chocolate brown ties and vests.
* Light pink bridesmaid bouquets and boutonnieres look great against brown dresses and vests
*Flower girls look great in pink or white dresses. Some brides prefer to have the flower girl in a white dress to match their own dress. If you are wearing ivory, then the flower girl should be in a pink or ivory dress. You could also have the flower girl match whatever the bridesmaids are wearing
* Wedding favors are another great way to both thank your guests and add more to your pink and brown theme. Guests tend to appreciate edible favors above all else. Brach's Neopolitan Sundaes look great in pink organza bags, and pink, brown and ivory M&Ms work well to fill pink and brown favor boxes.
* Other favors are sometimes appreciated as long as they are useful. Wine stopper can be a useful gift, and perhaps guests will remember the wonderful time they had at their wedding every time they use it.
* You could also make a donation to a charity in liu of favors, but pass out a small note telling your guests how you chose to donate in their name. Making a donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, for example, puts your money that might have otherwise been spent on candy towards a good cause. You could then place a basket of Breast Cancer Awareness bracelets near your guest book for guests to take, labeled with a sign explaining why the bracelets are there
* Last, but not least, think outside the box when it comes to planning your wedding. Your wedding does not have to be all white. Many brides are going for red, blue or pink(!) wedding dresses instead of white or ivory; Flower girl baskets, ring bearer pillows, unity candles, your bouquet, your invitations, etc. - they can all be pink and brown with touches of gold, bronze or ivory! The possibilities and combinations are endless. Just remember: use what you like. This is your wedding and it should reflect the personalities of you as a couple.
